Golf Random Irritations

1. Players in the group in front walking to each others balls when they hit, just go to your own damn ball and talk inbetween shots!

2. Taking out an iron for safety and carving it into the trees

3. New wedges scuffing up £4 a go Prov's on the first strike

Testing positive for Covid this afternoon, played this morning but feeling under the weather on the back 9 and doubled 80% of the holes, couldn’t be bothered about not finding a ball. I was scheduled to be on the registration desk for our Over 50 Open on Wednesday and playing in the Driffield Open on Thursday.
Not feeling too good at the moment but in any case , can’t risk passing it on.

Our halfway hut still not being in use despite being completed for about 2 years now. Could've really done with a drink yesterday

So Ave just gone to put a score in on the England golf app and it says “ not possible as I am 15 km away and I need to be inside 3.1 km of the course I played. what the flippin eck is that rammel all about.

Because it stops people putting in scores away from the course - ie cheating

How can you be putting a score in on the app if you’re not at the course

To do that would have meant starting the card at the course which you can do 🤷‍♂️ then you can complete it at home

But the app doesn’t allow you to start a card unless you are at the course
Ah, that's fair enough. I took it that the round was pre registered but then didn't allow him to fill it in at home. I wouldn't have thought that to be unreasonable. I've never done that but assumed it would be possible (which it sounds as though it is)

He logged on at the course, played, then decided to enter his scores when he got home, only to discover that he couldn't.
Simple, really.
As I said - the app only says you are not within the required distance when you start a card , and you need to start the card before the round

Once you have started the round you can fill it in later and send to attester

It was brought in to stop cards being submitted at home if it wasn’t started at the course

If the round is pre registered then the distance doesn’t matter - I started my round at seacroft and finished it at hotel

Only issue is if the round/scorecard hasn’t been started properly which I know some have had before

He needs to set up "Developer options" on his 'phone and use a mock location app :)
I've never tried it but the fact that you can do this means that cheats can do it and the location check is just an irritation for others.

Played 18 in a buggy last night to make it back for the england game, got to hole 15 no hold ups, then saw on the next tee a 4 ball had cut in to get back in time too.

Very slow play meaning we were waiting on the tee for 15 mins for the next 3 holes, we got to every tee just as they were walking away, simple 'you guys play through' wouldn't have been difficult, certainly wouldn't have held them up

I had finished the round which was a decent knock. I casually said “ it’s a shame I could not record that score”, a couple of the lads said you can put it on the EG golf app as long as you get a playing partner to verify it. EG send your playing partner a email to verify. I had to shoot off and pick kids up from skool and go strawberry picking so I thought I would do it at home. Unfortunately not.

Whenever you put a card in, including via the app, you're supposed to register your intent to do so (i.e. create the card in the app) before you tee off. And as others mentioned above, this needs to be done in the vicinity of the course to stop people doing what you tried to do. 😄
