Golf Random Irritations

OEM Headcovers. When you are paying eye-watering money for a lump of metal or carbon fibre on a stick, why can't they provide us with decent headcovers that don't start to fall apart within a year. I have a putter cover that I bought on ebay for less than a tenner and it has lasted years. My OEM Ping putter cover has disintegrated. Same for my Callaway driver cover, my Cleveland wood covers, etc.
Some Chinese factories are better than other Chinese factories, but the ones tendering at the lowest price get the work.

Agree, I won a FW in a comp and the headcover was already perished when I got it

To follow up on this. The club captain marshalled the chute the next weekend. Turning away people whos group had not all arrived. Result 5-6 balls max in the chute.
Unfortunately the following week back to the same old routine. Asked one chap why his ball was in the chute and where his group were - he said in the car park and removed his ball - 20 mins later his group turned up! In the carpark my arse!

Did this happen in 1984?

Golf clubs not putting their membership costs on their website, and asking for a bluddy form to be completed to get that information, when you know they need members.😡
If they give a phone number on their website, give 'em a call and ask. If they tell you to complete the form on their website, tell them you don't own a computer or a smartphone.
A friend told me this.

Early last year we had a spate of quad bike attacks on the course. It has multiple access points so the club spent a bit of cash on fencing, gates and locks which seemed to have cured the problem.

This morning, the world woke up to find that our friend had returned with a vengeance. They had come equipped with bolt cropper and cut the lock off one of the larger gate that the greens staff use, accessed the course and absolutely mullered the 15th green.

Needless to say, the members are a wee bit upset and our phantom quad biker probably needs to keep his head down. But I suspect he knows that.

Had a lesson a few weeks ago, a round and 3/4 range sessions and felt I was starting to get the changes bedded in - cue a round which involved 90% tops and the occasional shank and a total of 15 points! Was painful, but on the plus side, the ball never got high enough to get affected by the wind so mainly went straight- just not very far

I feel your pain. Before the lesson I had I told him I wanted to break 80 more. Can't even break 90 now and barely broke 100 yesterday.

I've had 21 points and come dead last before, I feel your pain

Last winter I had 6 lessons, one every 3 or 4 weeks. But, my pro was clear from the start and said there’s no point investing in the process unless i practised. I therefore planned 45 minutes practice time on a Monday Thursday and Sunday (luckily I have a range 10 mins away). The pro sent me a video after each lesson with 1 or 2 things he wanted me to bed in before the next lesson.

I also practised hitting the positions when I walked past large mirrors in the house (sad I know). I also got worse before I started to get better, so what I’m saying is stick with it and try and get a few reps in at the range. Easier said than done but structured practice after the lesson is key. (I started the season on 5 and finished on 2 💪)

In the club winter scratch foursomes we need to win and draw our last two games to win the league again

The game today was the one that was more “winable” - so the captain decided to “rest” a few of the better players to “freshen” things up - the four players that replaced us were given a thumping and managed to squeeze a draw- now we need to win the last match but he has annoyed a number of the players he “dropped” and they won’t play now

Guy is a clown and didn’t learn from when he didnt pick his best team last year as well

I have a feeling that my irritation on Wednesday will be explaining my problem to the pro then striping everything down the middle

The pro who teaches the kids deciding to take the little treasures (15 of them) out to play the 1st and 9th holes when the course is fully booked.

If that's the amount of time investment it takes them I've got absolutely no chance unfortunately.
