I understand it’s difficult to find a perfect balance for all handicaps and genders especially in team games.

Are clubs allowed to decide their own handicaps for competitions like this?

What works for one club’s members might not work for another’s is my thinking

Often thought the same. If you choose to be paired with another Low HC and then moan it’s a little pointless as you’ve set yourself up for failure as the law of averages is there are always more higher HC at any club than low so therefore the chances of winning Net or stableford is always gonna be lower !

It’s why I always try to play comps with divisions if individual or if pairs then choose wisely 🤷🏻
 
Greenkeepers that literally cut pins on the edge of a false front! Charity comp today saw every player either putt or chip through the green from the back to front and end up 30yards down the fairway. Saw some huge scores on one hole, literally ruined so many peoples cards today and caused a lot of complaints! I got lucky and made bogey and that was the best score on the hole!

Greenkeepers like that need a good talking too.
Those and the ones that put tee markers right at the very back of tees so you don’t get 2 club lengths.

I would genuinely reserve a place in hell for them! My bogey 6 was the best score in the hole today and that was lucky due to where the pin was. It was unplayable!
 
Comp today, 3 balls

First hole, par 5, our group all hit drives down the middle and played quickly to the green from there, no looking for balls or messing around

Group behind were waiting to hit their 3rd shot when we were on the green FFS.

We have a 8 minute gap between tee times.

Chased us round the first 5 holes, one of them is a. Ex-board member so you'd think he knows better..

The game behind is meant to keep up with the game in front of them. But, did they tee off before they were meant to?

Out of interest, how long did your round take?

This is a big issue in the game and often overlooked as people obsess with playing quickly.

8 mins between tee times isn’t enough despite so many clubs insisting on it. Provided you’re keeping up with the group ahead you shouldn’t feel pressured in to speeding up provided you haven’t dropped behind! But on the first hole seem extreme did they stick to correct start time.
 
My mate was off 12.0 before the weekend, and me 12.2. One of my goals is to get lower than him, just for bragging rights really. Both of us shot 80 on our home course at the weekend, but he got cut by 0.1 and I didn't! 😆
