Golf Random Irritations

That Professional Golfers don't get fined money or shots for playing the game at a pace which, if you did it at your club, would get you, at least, a very lonely membership assuming they let you renew at the end of the year.
The Powers that be aren't interested and/or haven't got the balls to do it.....and it's making Professional golf not worth watching...and that will be to the detriment of Professional golf.
On the PGA tour the players do actually get fined for slow play, but the fines are confidential and the amount is not disclosed.

It clearly doesn't have any affect on them, the play is still glacial. They need to bring in meaningful fines, and in golf that equals shots on the scorecard.

we had a stableford comp on saturday , i started well and bar one bad drive which lead to an NR i shot 23 points on the front which was a best front 9 for me , then i shot 10 points on the back 9 .... a few bad swings and some concrete hard fairways was my downfall
Its the hope that killed me!

This.

The difference for one shot gained in that tournament can potentially be $5 million. A $20k fine sounds a lot but would be as inconsequential there as fining us regular grunts 2p.

Another one in agreement with you. It’s a bit like fining a premier league footballer 10k when he’s earning 250k a week. It means nothing.

They either need to start giving stroke penalties during tournaments which will affect their finishes, their rankings etc or for repeat offenders remove the ability to play in certain tournaments e.g you been done on 3 separate occasions at 3 different events Your invite to the Players Championship is removed! Until there are genuine consequences then it’ll continue to go unheeded and ignored.

They should’ve given Cantlay a shot penalty on Sunday night, two holes lost to the group in front, that tee shot where he waggled back and forth for what felt like about half an hour, soon as he hit it it should’ve been bang one stroke and do it again you’ll get another.
Could’ve led to Henley finishing outright 2nd costing cantlay millions.

But again, they do nothing.

I think the back and forth weight shifts from foot to foot when putting were worse. You’re not even transferring weight through the swing when putting so it doesn’t even make sense!

Seems to be some sort of weird failure to pull the trigger switch. Akin to Sergio’s 1000 regrips he used to do. Whatever it is it’s bloody annoying and takes him over a minute from addressing the ball to pulling the trigger.

Don't watch the PGA anymore, tape it for the wife to fast forward through it, so it's just LIV and DPWT for me with the occasional look at the Champions tour, all down to how slow it is and the coverage of a select few, even when they are not in contention.

Shooting a 82 yesterday and my h/c going up .4😡
82 is the lowest of my 8 counting scores, had a 85 dropping off.

Course I played my h/c was 13 instead of my usual 18 h/c

Club medal yesterday, recovered quite well after a couple doubles early on. Par 5 10th, hit a good drive, then hit a 7 wood and was just short of the green. I thought i was in a green side bunker, partners thought it might have gone left into gorse. Couldn't find it so had to walk back 200 yards and re hit. Made the edge of the green, chipped on and putted for a 6.

Walk towards the next tee, and there is my first ball pin high about 5 yards from bloody green 🤬

I once had the same thing, was looking over the back of the green and couldn't find it anywhere. I had given up but thought I'd check the hole for a laugh, and there it was at the bottom of the cup.

Haven't had a match with my mate in so long that the last time I was getting 4 shots whereas now our handicaps are the same. (Schedules just haven't aligned, with him working or me having other golf booked.) Was due to be playing a round with him this Saturday morning finally. He's just told me he can't now because he's having beers on Friday night and can't play hungover.
