It was indeed the 10th. It was the year that Mickelson lost his temper and hit a moving ball on the green - I remember because it was fresh in my mind and I chose to take S&D after my putt slid past the hole and off the green. Twice

We had a mixed match once when the captain apologised to the visitors about the pin on the 3rd. A putt that stopped 1 inch from the hole rolled about 10 feet back down the slope!

They had the worst pin position on the 3rd a few months ago - it was at the back of the green, slightly left of middle, but it's right on a ridge that you can't necessarily see with the naked eye. Basically, if you were straight below it and putted up the hill towards the flag, it would just miss the hole and turn left and run about ten feet away in that direction. But if you aimed further right to allow for this, it would just stay right where you aimed. Impossible and very annoying, and I swear they had that pin position for two weeks and I had that exact putt three times.

I suspect he's referring to your statement that you've had the same putt three times, and that you should have learned to put your ball onto another part of the green.

But if course he's not familiar with Grims Dyke's 3rd hole. It's an achievement to get your tee shot anywhere on the green in the first place. Worrying about where on the green is very much a secondary consideration.

Exactly, lucky if I even hit the bloody green. Then trying against all hope not to three-putt it is the next consideration.

I did have to do that, it's just annoying because I'm in the office today so it means getting up and walking to somewhere quiet, plus I had to call them twice in the end because there was a cock-up as well.

I'd pick up the phone if no email address was listed. If an organisation publishes their email address, there is no excuse for ignoring the emails.

Not even that, I say 24-36 hours. I mean how much do assistant pros in the pro shop really have to do all day?? So often they are twiddling their thumbs in there, it doesn't take long to read and answer an email. I very much doubt they are inundated with them!

Unlike a phone call (which can come at any time and usually when you're in the middle of something else) dealing with emails and other correspondence can be done at a time that suits the recipient. So that time can be, and should be, scheduled. That being the case, 24 hours should be enough but 48 hours is acceptable especially if dealing with smaller organisations with part-time members of staff.

Yeah I think it can vary, but I’d expect a response at the latest the 2nd working day after I’d sent it
