Got the clubs out of the car this morning only to find that my driver shaft had said goodbye to the head. It seems that the rub mark had weakened the shaft over time. Had to borrow my mates 3 wood for the day.
Au revoir mon cher.To my mind, life was much better with a separate LIV Golf tread, LIV Golf over there the rest where it's always been. Now, my **** filter gets overloaded on the Professional Golf thread and I find myself just avoiding it, which is a shame as I used to enjoy contributing.
C'est la vie. Back to GolfWRX.
We have recently opened some new bunkers as part of the renovation programme going on. As they were new you'd think members would want to treat them with care but the number of footprints each weekend around 9.00am onwards is ridiculous and I am sure it can't just be those going out in front of meI don’t doubt it’s been said here times, but people who show utter disrespect for the course.
We played nine yesterday evening and the greens, recently subject of spring maintenance, were littered with pitch marks. On at least two greens there were marks within three feet of the hole. I’m not saying those in front had caused them, but they cannot have failed to see them, yet made no attempt to repair them.
And some of the bunkers. My god, the footprints. More like kids sandpits than a golf course feature.
What we need are snipers in trees to rid our courses of this scourge.
Not very far if that ball mark on the face is anything to go byNew driver, can't wait to see how far it goes...

All it would take would be a video camera in a tree....and then someone boring enough to want to watch through the video to see who is doing it.....and then naming and shaming. It would work. It won't get better unless someone jumps all over the culprits.I don’t doubt it’s been said here times, but people who show utter disrespect for the course.

I don't think you would need to name+shame on the first video offense. Just take them aside and make it clear that the next time you even hear someone say they did it again... all hell will rain down upon their heads. Naming+shaming included. Unless there is a penalty....some people will just ignore the rules. Whether it's ball marks on the greens, raking sand, putting back divots....things are getting slowly worse. Not relevant to golf much....but the amount of dog poo out and about is getting crazy. Unless someone steps up and zaps the culprit....it's going to get worse as well.I had exactly this conversation with our course manager a couple of years ago.
During wet weather, in common with most clubs we have areas roped off to prevent traffic. There was one such area behind a green and it was apparent that golfers were ignoring it. This was causing such an issue for the greenkeeping staff that they installed a camera.
The inevitable happened, and a member was captured lowering the rope and wheeling his trolley through the quagmire, because he was simply too lazy to go the long way round.
I was told about it by a member of the shop staff who also showed me the video. I didn’t know the member concerned, but the staff did. I asked the manager if he was going to publish the footage on the club website and detail who the member was. The purpose of that should have been clear. Both to shame the member concerned and discourage others from doing the same.
His response? No, because he didn’t want to embarrass the person concerned. But surely, that would be the whole point of such an exercise. And if said member took his custom elsewhere then that would merely have been an added bonus. Golf clubs do not need such imbeciles as playing members.
Are there any privacy or GDPR issues with setting up video cameras like that? I think it's a good idea but wonder about what other issues it might create.I had exactly this conversation with our course manager a couple of years ago.

We had a Junior regional comp on Friday.
Played Sat morning first thing and must've repaired 5 recent pitchmarks per green.
