Golf Random Irritations

The clocks changing yesterday, an extra hour of light, checking the weather forecast, nice all week, yessssss! After work golf is back with a bang!

Email from the club this morning, temps all week because they’re hollow tining the greens. Could cry.

Members who never mark a card in a roll up. I always used to take the card and then people start saying, “Are you marking the card? My handicap is 26. Does anybody have a card?”

Well I am now marking less. I am playing with 2 lads on Wednesday and I know it will be expected. Not taken for granted any more.

I always put cards in every time I play now. Quite happy to mark the card for the roll up if it means my score can be recorded and then attested

Hole19 mucking me about. Back around Black Friday they were doing an offer on their premium subscription, but my subscription wasn't due to expire until end of March, so I asked them if I could pay for it up front. They said no, but they would send me a discount code near the renewal time. That's good customer service, I thought... Fast forward to last week, I ask them about it, they send me a code for 30% but I can't see anywhere to put it in. They say they will cancel my auto-renewal (which was for £40) and then I can subscribe again with the 30% code. That sounds fine, I thought... But when I go to add the new subscription the full price is £60 now. So even with 30% off I'd be paying more than before! I've contacted them to say cheers for mucking me about but can you just put me back on the auto-renewal price of 40 quid please. Two days later no response. Looks like they'll be a losing a Premium subscriber then.

What was the premium price before?

The first year I got a deal and it was only about £24 I think, then it renewed at £40 and was due to renew at £40 again - I guess the auto-renew price this year was due to stay the same even though it's £60 for new customers without a deal... I don't really know though. Hopefully they sort it out before this weekend anyway. I won't ever be paying 60 quid, all it really does is allow more stats to be recorded and gets rid of the adverts.

Still on mats or take to the semi rough. They've also kept a few greens on temps.
Sorry, didn’t realise your winter rules were quite as draconian as that. We’ve had almost no rain at all in the past 5 weeks down here and we don’t really need any precautions at the moment.

Driest March since 1961 apparently....we've already started watering the course....
