Whilst it’s been very dry , the warm growing weather hasn’t arrived consistently yet so grass isn’t growing that quickly

No, unfortunately not. Just a run of the mill parkland course. I've only joined it this month and hopefully it's just a blip. I'm not sure if they've been doing any work on the course that's required that wee bit extra protection this year.

You’d think this is unnecessary advice, but last time I recruited and interviewed at work (and this is for a respected professional role requiring a specific degree, not for a paper round), one candidate turned up in a tracksuit. No I didn’t give him the job .

And surely that's the point? Don't tell them what you expect, see how they choose to present themselves.

I would be irritated by having to attend an interview to be allowed to do my hobby.

Don't mind that to be honest, traditional members club that want to do their due diligence. Part of the reason I'm joining.

I’ve probably had around 6 interviews at different clubs down the years. Once upon a time it was almost a touch your forelock sort of thing, but the last few have been more like an information briefing in support of incoming, new members.

Never needed an interview to join a club. The clubs I've been at seem to just take your money and ask you to leave your weapons at the door.

Only joined one club and the interview was very informal , more of a meet and great with the club captain etc and then afterwards all the new members met in the bar , there were also the main guys of the swindles there as well so you can be integrated straight away

How smart did they mean?? Surely not a suit a tie?? I mean, I would wear golf attire to a golf club 'interview' and expect that to be ok. If they're wanting jacket and tie for a handshake and to be shown round the place, then it probably ain't the club for me.

Had interviews with the captain and secretary at each club I joined. Never bothered me.

Saturday doubled the first but shot 4 over thru the 14 holes I played other than that second shot on the first it was a ball striking clinic (by my standards)

Tonight same 14 probably about 15 over

Well, there are plenty of alternative places to do your hobby

My local club stopped interviewing a couple of years ago. Now there's emails every week about raking bunkers, pitch marks and slow play.
Surely a coincidence
