Golf Random Irritations

Huge amount of people wanting to play Saturday morning.. I just could not spare the time so popped up at 3:30 in the afternoon to play. As I walked down the 8th around 4:30 the guy who was doing the 10am roll up was wondering to his car ..
The issue is stableford competition huge handicaps .. should limit it to 18 so people pick up and still put them in division.. the winners will still be the same people
Maybe it's just me but I didn't understand what you were saying here.

Not sure what your irritation is here - people playing Saturday mornings, stableford competitions, the organiser having a drink/meal/chat after the comp or what.
Please read posts before posting as this makes no sense at all 😄

Course still too wet to risk wearing my new white golf shoes tomorrow. Got them before Christmas and still not worn them on the course. Got some black spikes but doesn't seem right to wear black golf shoes - even wearing long trousers! 🤭

Unless it's links or heathland, I wouldn't be wearing new white shoes either! Usually winter boots for me until end of March.

We've been under some poor weather this week including a 38hr cyclone lock down so I've had zero golf or practice this week
Still due to rain tomorrow but I need my practice fix so will go to club regardless, maybe I'll even get to wear my rain jacket for first time

18 holes booked for Sunday , fingers 🤞

Well it didn't rain today so practiced for 4 hours, I've totally forgot how to hit a ball after just 8 days

Playing 6.30 tomorrow so I'll be done by the time you guys wake up
No idea who I'll be paired with but should be fun

Lost my Spurk mat yesterday 🤬🤬
The thing is if it was out on the course then you didn't lose it, it was stolen. If someone is walking down the fairway (or the rough in some people's case) and they find a Spurk (club, rangefinder, anything) and pocket it, then it is theft.

It's not a tee peg, pencil, pitch mark repairer it is a valuable item, it's not theirs and they know it belongs to a member. Hand it in and give the owner the chance to claim it back. Anything else is theft.

My son lost his a month back, no sin of it whatever, so I gave him mine and got a new one.

Sun is shining, looks like a beautiful day, then I go outside and my car is frozen. Turns out it's -2°c still. Baselayer still required then.

Really hit home how stupid our course ratings are now and how difficult it's going to be to get my handicap down to a decent level - played really well, shot 83, but that's come back as 17.3 score differential. 😵‍💫 (It used to be 15.8 which is bad enough.)

I have just moved courses down to this issue. Playing at my old course I would get 9 shots in competitions. Moved to a new club and I am now getting 15 on the same index. Obviously the new course is longer and harder.

Might be worth considering moving to a harder/longer course to test yourself and make that handicap come down.

I love my course and the club, the people there etc. A silly course rating isn't enough to make me move, but it is annoying. I think there will come a time in a few years where we move house and ending needing to a find new club for that reason, so we'll see what happens then I guess.

In the meantime I'll just have to perform well on my away round when I'm putting cards in!
