The complete lack of consistency in my game right now...
Today's game is a perfect example...
1st 9......3 pars, 2 bogeys and 4 doubles....+10
2nd 9....7 pars, 2 bogeys...
It's doing my flippin' head in...
And if it was 1 thing that's causing it it would be an easy fix.....
Stupid game.........🤬

Driving 30 mins to golf club for an early tee in competition, to find course is closed. Worse that decision and message was sent out at 8am, I left my house at 7.59am
Really annoying when that happens, you have my sympathies

They send out ours around 6.30 to 7 am . Quick check of the phone and it was roll over and try to get back to sleep, we sometimes get the notice too late when it is due to fog.

Should have been playing in a comp this morning for winners of this year's Stablefords.
Drove to the course through pouring rain, practice green flooded but the comp is on. 😮

The first group got to the first green and walked back, course unplayable.

The course is still open and will probably be playable by midday but too late for the comp as all tees are booked out.

Our place seems to have listened to the flood (pun intended) of complaints from members last year, when the course remained open despite many fairways being ankle deep in flood water when the wet weather was at its worst.

First really significant rainfall of the autumn and we are closed.

Yep, this was a problem at my old course. I liked to go in early before the rollup and spend 30 minutes on the practice field....I usually left way before the closure notice. My current club sends out the notice around 6am....which is amazing and helpful.

Two things from my round today.

Playing a hole that's directly into the sun, on your own. Absolutely no idea where that's gone.

Playing a short par 4 where you're hitting a tee shot with hybrid or something just to find the fairway. If I'm hitting hybrid to a green I'm focused, feeling like I need to hit a good shot. When it's hybrid off the tee to find a fairway I'm thinking "nice easy shot, just swing easy" - worst shot I've ever hit in my life. Why can't I commit to them properly? So annoying.

Imo there is nothing worse than playing safe and it going wrong.

Tried a 4 wood for safety off the tee straight into a bush further away than I expected

Never again lol 🤣

Newport does something trying to helpful, that isn't unless you live close to the course.

Message out at 6am. Course closed, inspection at 8.30 to see if can open "carry only."

I'm 30 mins away. Tee time 8.50. 🤣🤣🤣

What would you do?😉

Go to the club - have a coffee or play.

Go back to bed.

If it’s closed at 6am after overnight rain, are only 2 possible outcomes at 8.30 -

1. It will be closed at 8.30 so you’ve wasted an hour driving.
2. It’s open, carry only, so the course is going to be saturated.

Book a later tee time in the first instance, stay in bed half an hour longer (y)

Most of my playing mates and I just go, cup of coffee and a chat.

We often do this when when we we will not be playing regardless.

When it comes to tee times we virtually always go it after 10.30, big change compared to my younger years when I used to play at 8am.

I’m after buying a Ping G430 9 fairway wood at £300.
I want to try or have a fitting before I spend £300. I’ve rung Scottsdale, Manchester GC , Stockport GC, and even Royal Birkdale where I had my iron fitting . None have one to try , they say Ping don’t supply one for them . So it looks like I have to bite the bullet and shell out £300 and hope I like it better than my 5 iron .
