That so many people seem to be unable or unwilling to accept that, unless LIV change their systems to the satisfaction of the OWGR board..

THEY'RE NOT GETTING ANY POINTS

OWGR have given their reasons and, like it or not, that's the way it is

Hey LIV....do what you want but if you want points you know what you have to do......
It's getting tiresome
But that ranking system is only ranking a subset of players and is missing out good players. So it is no longer a legitimate organisation for what it purpots to do.

This is what I'm up against:

"Hi Alan
The match you played will make no difference to your handicap as it was not one of your best 8
scores, so is it really worthwhile?
Adding a new course takes quite a lot of time, which I don’t have until early next week "

I am really angry. I had to explain how WHS averaging works:

"WHS handicaps are calculated using the best 8 out of the last twenty scores. If you miss
inputting a score, the process and progress the 20th and subsequent 20th scores is incorrect.
This can affect our handicap in the future.

The whole concept of WHS is to use all scores; I know traditional attitudes in England find
this hard to accept but that is the basis of the averaging system.

Please ensure that our scores are added. If you are too busy, then Clandon golf must employ
someone else to fulfil their responsibilites to their members regarding handicaps.

We will be submitting another score tomorrow. I suspect there has be a re-rating of this
course as well."
Yup. It might not be one of your best 8 now, but eventually it will be the only one of your current 20 still on the record, and then it could be one of the best. Poor response from the other party.

Still on this train - another 83 scored yesterday. It's so frustrating to consistently play to or very near to your handicap, but never better it. And I can easily pinpoint where I chucked 3 or 4 shots away as well.

In the old handicap system they used to say you weren't supposed to play to your handicap every time didn't they? I'd have probably received an adjustment from the handicap committee for this kind of consistency! 😆
Seeing as the WHS index is the average of best 8 of last 20, I reckon you "should" play to your handicap 1 in 5 times, on average. I'd say you're doing pretty well 😂

It takes a few minutes to input one round, but perhaps 15 minutes for the first time of doing it as there is a bit of a learning curve to go through. My member submits about 8 or 9 Portuguese rounds at a time during his overseas stays - it will take me 20 minutes to enter them. I bother to do it because he bothers to submit them.

Waiting a week for my initial cards to be put into the system, only to find that, on two of them, the front 9 is totally wrong!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm buzzing to apparently be a 13.6!! But the "lowest" is 8 shots better off than I actually shot. The other incorrect card is the correct differential (assuming that triple bogey is the max?) But they've still messed it up somehow. Guess I'm going in to the club tomorrow!
bit late to the party but for cards for initial handicap maximum score is twice the par.

That's been going on for decades.
I was a member of a club in 1980 and they were on mats and preferred lies from October 1st till April 1st...regardless
Reminds me of play at Hoebridge, Woking in the early 80s. They went to temp greens and stayed on them fr the same period , at least they were kept prepped all year round so were not just rough grass with a bucket hole in the middle

2nd hand golf club retailers..
I thought I'd try out a set from a well known Japanese company via GG4C with a view to , maybe , upgrading my current 718 AP2s
Found a set with a shaft that should work (Graphite due to dodgy elbows) and they arrived an hour ago...
Only 6-PW as I use hybrids from there on.....
The trouble is, while the 7-PW are of a similar size to my current irons, the 6 iron is from a different model - and it's about twice the size with a sole width similar to my shoes....
I've checked the listing and, if you look really, really hard on full zoom, you can just make out, in a shadow, the HL in a corner of the club.
No mention in the description of the 6 iron being anything different...
The size is different
The loft is different
The launch will be to the moon.....guess they'll be going back then....

Just check the clubs before they get listed..measure them - I've had short and long clubs in the past - check the lies and lofts.
You're charging over the top prices for these clubs...do a bit of work to make sure that what you're selling is what you're selling......
This may use my addiction to buying 2nd hand clubs.......:mad::mad::poop:

I had similar issue with GC4C if you remember - bought a putter and when it arrived it had been modified so the shaft was bent back and you could only play it off the front foot! Their descriptions are useless. You maybe expect that off a random independent eBay sale or something - not a recognised company.

Played a comp today and saw someone cheat on the 18th when he had a decent card going.

I was so shocked at what I saw I hesitated, then it was too late.

He made par and signed for a good score. I'm more angry at myself for bottling out of calling him for it.

Now I'm at home fuming at my lack of bottle

What did he do and can anything be done retrospectively?

We were looking for his ball in the first cut, couldn't see it. He walked back away from me about 25 yards and I saw a ball in his right hand.

He bent over with his right hand and said, here it is. I thought I don't believe he did that, and I thought did I really see that. Then I thought what if I was wrong?

He has a bit of a rep for similar. He's a regular playing partner and I just blooming bottled it. I know he's taking the pee, its my fault for not saying something....

Can you not report him to the comp committee?

Too late now. Even at the time, my word against his. Next time I play with him, I'm taking video
Not too late at the time - your word against his doesnt apply. If you are attesting his card and unwilling to, given you dont believe he has played the hole within the rules, then you are within your right not to sign, and he is no return. Thats the whole point of countersigning someone's card - you agree with their signing of their score. You have no obligation to do so - the game relies on you not having to prove anything.
