Golf Random Irritations

I was just saying what everyone always says. I don't really warm-up either. The fact is, getting there 40 minutes earlier to whack 25 balls in a net is boring. Who the hell wants to do that? My warm-up now is just doing about 20 practise swings and trying to do them as fast as possible. 😄
We have a net, and a full driving range. I usually use the net, as I just want to get the old body moving and feel my strike is good. I find if I use the range it turns into a practice session.
That said, last time out I hit 25 balls on the range off our lovely new matts. Played the first 4 holes nicely then went to 💩. Although it was blowing at 40mph by then.

Whilst I am eternally grateful to members of the general public who choose to have a 50 seater birthday party at the club - because it helps keep the fees down - it is somewhat irritating that the bar and tables were set up on Friday morning for the event taking place from 6 tonight...
It leaves very little space for the members to sit for brekky, lunch or drinks.

Members who play handicaps not according to The Rules. Played with a Group yesterday who play off HI, another group play singles from Course Handicap. Others play 90% 4BBB stroke play.

I feel members still do not understand what the “new rules” are.

I have mentioned it but to no avail.

You've got no chance, most can't even count to 7, let alone divide one number by another, percentages no chance!

Trudging round in the rain getting soaked, getting to the 18th tee on 34 points, par three over water, and bottling it to end up with 34 points.
Bottling it - on a water hole ? i started thinking about that phrase and how it matches the hazard type. Then I started thinking about the phrase ‘canning it’. Both phrases referring to similar processes but 180 degrees apart in meaning. Then I thought, I wish I could get back to sleep! Woke up at 0355 and now I’m on the Ipad.

Not a fan of how the Majors are laid out now, 8 months until the next one, surely it would be better to stagger them for 1 every quarter.
Yep agree - moving the PGA ruined it imo - used to be great having it from April through to August

But not sure how they can do it 1 every quarter weather constraints etc

Guess a bit more than a random irritation really. Did wonder what that weird sound was, and then I looked down on the club.

Hit the stanchion with it?😢
It broke as I hit the ball. Although I haven’t been kind to it over the years, so assuming that all those slams on the floor have helped it get to this point, but it actually happened when using it the way it’s supposed to be used.

I've had next Monday pencilled in for golf with family for a while. Just seen the weather report for it now and it says torrential rain and up to 45 mph winds! What the hell? At the end of July? This year's weather has been an absolute joke.

You’re basically getting what you Southerners have laughingly called a Summer in Scotland for years 😂

Reap the Whirlwind (quite literally) 🤪

An actual golf irritation from the weekend, apart from the driver breaking, was that one of the guys I played with is a notorious ball mark cheater. He and his group never plays in any club competitions and typically just play their usual slot at the weekend. He puts his marker behind his ball fine. But when he puts his ball back, he just blatantly puts it's 2-4 inches in front of the marker. As I'm at a new club and have just managed to find a regular 4-ball to play with, I didn't want to say anything. Spoke to one of the other guys in the group and they obviously know it too but leave him be as they never play for any money or anything.

Can't wrap my head around how you can do that and not be ashamed of yourself, no matter what type of golf you're playing.
