Glove wear!!

Iv noticed lately that my glove is starting to wear where the butt of the club rests as its in my hands....
Is this a tell tale sign for anything,
Am i not gripping tight enough with the left hand, have i not enough of the grip showing behind my hand, Am i gripping a bit too much in the palm as opposed to the fingers.
I hit my irons pretty consistent and also my wood my driver can be a little wayward at times though.

I think so Sam...
When i took my hand measurement on the ping web fit site it measured at 7 1/2 inchs from my wrist to the tip of my longest finger.....
The last glove i bought was a FJ one but i bought a medium to large ad it felt very tight when i bought it but loosened out a little after a few rounds.....
Should i have bought Large altogether i wonder..

Talking to my pro yesterday about purchasing a new glove,decided on a titleist at £14.99 2 weeks after buying a waterproof one for £16.99 hasnt rained since bloody typical.He said i should be changing my glove every 6-8 rounds,i had to laugh does he think im rich.just had my last glove for a year.

I am sure I read somewhere that wear on the glove as you describe is caused by holding the club to much in the palm and not enough in the fingers. I took note of this as I noticed the same thing on my glove. I think that I also grip to tight as well. Since I tried to correct these things I have noticed improvement

Me too. Since tweaking my grip about 1-2cm towards the fingers, I've not had the bad rubbing/wear on my gloves.

My family have an issue with me buying gloves (and leaving them around) but a new glove is such a treat. Like new socks....

I have had a problem with glove wear since I was a junior. I get my grip checked regularly when I have a lesson and there never seems to be an issue. I'm wondering if its not caused by excessive friction from hitting balls at the range. I have a number of leather gloves I use for competition play and although some of these have a few grip marks on they don't tend to deteriorate that quickly

Your probably right, I have had quite a few lessons before christmas, didn't mention my grip once! A soft grip will also mark more I woukld have thought

I was told that too.

I had the same thing, wearing a hole through on the far right end of the palm (fleshy part).
When I bought a glove to replace it I asked the pro if it meant I was doing something wrong for it to happen, thinking it would be a horrible swing or grip fault, and he just said it was gripping the club too far near the top of the grip.

Now I make sure I can see the top of the grip sticking out above my hand.
It might be psychological, but I also feel more in control of the clubs like this, possibly because I've effectively shortened all my clubs by an inch.

you should try the Srixon cabretta glove. I get mine for £6.99 and cannot find fault with them in any way. They are cheap enough to change on a regular basis without breaking the bank. Give one a go.

Glove wear comes from gripping too tightly iirc, guilty of it myself when playing badly.

Save yourself some money and dont wear one. To me they feel like they just irratate me but if you do want a good one ive heard the footjoy ones are good.

Weak, strong, too light, too heavy, something else?

I would be willing to bet you are gripping it through the palm of the hand with your left hand (presuming you are right handed)as opposed to how it should be......from the base of the little finger to 1st joint in the forefinger...I did this a bit a while back and it is easy to fall back into doing it and is a sure fire way of going through gloves.

Is this maybe why my driver is a little inconsistent...
My iron play is pretty good...
