Evening all, just a quick question, not sure if there has been a post about this.
Thoughts on whether to wear a glove or not ,if so advantages or disadvantages.
Hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year, with plenty of golf pressies😂😂

I never used to wear one, but now I couldn’t imagine playing without one.
I take it off to chip and putt however

I've played many times without one and quite liked how it felt, somehow ended up back in the habit of using one but will take it off for chipping and putting

Glove to me except for pitching, chipping and putting. Don't believe it gives me any additional "feel" but it's something I've done since a junior and playing these small, fiddly shots with a glove on doesn't feel right and a distraction

Wear two when it's pissing with rain. Otherwise I don't bother with one at all.

Has to be lashing for me to take this action.

I see no point in wearing only one whatsoever.

I was told years ago that wearing a glove was little to do with preventing blisters. Apparently, if you put a thin “grippy” layer between your hand and the club, you are less likely to hold the club too tightly. Holding tight is not good for the golf swing.
When using driver we are swinging at speeds of 90 to 120 mph and wearing a glove allows us to swing fast but hold lightly.

I can't get my head around why people take a glove off to chip and putt......
Mines goes on before I get to the first tee and comes off after the 18th green.....
For me it literally is born out of habit of seeing pro do it as a kid and wanting to copy what they did and it just stuck. I can just as easily chip wearing a glove and putt with no difference to the feel so it literally is just habit.

Definitely helps with grip. I'm left handed & didn't wear one for years. With arthritis showing up I find I can hold onto the club much better. Right hand grip is not nearly as important but you need to hold on with the left

See post #19 for why people and pros do it. ;)
