A bit of fun, lets see who can get the most correct. (Doesn't need to be correct batting order!)

Foursomes

Rory McIlroy + Graeme McDowell
Iain Poulter + Sergio Garcia
Luke Donald + Justin Rose
Paul Lawrie + Peter Hanson

Fourballs

Francesco Molinari + Nicolas Colsaerts
Lee Westwood + Luke Donald
Sergio Garcia + Martin Kaymer
Rory McIlroy + Graeme McDowell

Go for it, throw in your pairings.

Friday Foursomes (in order)
Rory/GMac
Luke/Sergio
Westwood/Lawrie
Poults /Rose

Friday FourBalls
Rory/GMac
Westwood/Colsaerts
Poults/Donald
Hanson/Molinari

Reasoning = Rory out first both time– show no fear in our best players being shot at.
Think my 4somes pairings pick themselves and are the best we can put out
(Molinari unlucky but not suitable with Westwood as neither are great putters)
Westwood to be elder statesman for Colsaerts to learn from in p.m.
Hanson and Molinari playing too well to ignore on first day.

Moan: I really believe that Ryder Cup matches need revising.

24 quality golfers, all wanting to show their skills and an expectant, (to put it mildly), crowd wanting to watch them
and then 4 from each side miss out in each session. If they had Mark James as Captain they may only play once after all that!

I think its wrong and I reckon Celtic Manor showed the way all be it due to the conditions.

My solution is simple 5 matches in each session so only 2 from each side miss out
BUT they are the first out in the next sessions so there is an element of tactics to the whole thing.
What do you think?

I'm not going to have a guess because I'd want to leave the same 4 players out of both and I know that won't happen, but I'd love to see Poulter and Garcia together in a match. If it were close I think one of them might explode!

Look at all those maniacs picking Westwood to play both sessions.

I think Jose is wise enough and confident enough to play everyone on day one!

In practice the first four out were Rose, Donald,Poulter and Westwood. Rose said he would like to play with Poulter again, but would be happy playing with the other two. Looks like a couple of the pairings.

I think that both captains have picked 3 solid pairings but the pairing of Westwood/Molinari and Mickelson/Bradley in foursomes is very odd, neither Westwood or Molinari putt well, and Mickelson and Bradley can be very wild, quite surprised Love didn't hold them back for fourballs and put D.J. & Kuchar in foursomes. Can't wait for the action to get going even though I am relying on text commentary until I leave work at 4
