Evening all, fully aware that FP is a popular destination within the forum but am keen to see if we have any members here ? It's now my nearest golf course and am keen to explore membership options , are there roll ups/swindles , drawn competitions etc, etc. If anyone is "in the know" it would be great to learn more . THanks in advance .

My mate joined several years back. Put his name down for comp, drove 50 minutes to club on the weekend, to find out no one put their name down with him. Couldn't play, so drove home again. To be fair, no idea if that is how groups are decided regularly, or it was just unlucky.

Played them in league lots of times, and there is a common story from members. In comps, they can take 1.5 hrs to play front 9, and 3+ hrs to play back. As a 27 hole course and being very corporate, the hotel visitors be playing one of the 9's the members are playing in comp.

And the bar is really really expensive, relative to Lincolnshire.

That being said, nice enough course. And the toilets are the finest toilets I've ever been in. I think when football teams come across to play Hull, footballers often play at Pines

I have heard that getting a tee time on a weekend in the summer can be difficult because of the number of hotel guests playing the course. I know a few guys that are on their points system, but they only play during the week.

When we played the Auld Pharts vs Whippersnappers meets there it didn't strike me as being a particularly Member orientated place.......
Just a feeling....

Thanks all, really appreciate the comments. Been at Elsham for a while but it really doesn't weather well at all. It's closed an awful lot and I just wasn't getting any kind of VFM . FP is my nearest course hence the queries but not knowing any folk there , it's difficult to understand what the craic is , if there is any at all!!!

@drewster it seems to be such a 'trip' course that I suspect it would be extremely frustrating to be a member there. They are trying to cram as many green fees per day as possible. Where would members fit into that?

Slow rounds, hard to get a time, expensive bar. Not really surprising that no one on here is a member.

It does a very good job but I'm not sure that being a good members club is one of those jobs

Played it a couple of times and as a golf club/ corporate course it’s a fine balance to keep both happy. I don’t think it would tick many boxes for me as a member.
One thing I found odd when I first went and I don’t know if it has changed. The driving range to practice. I went down there and started hitting a few drives. I noticed my balls rolling into the trees at the far end. I am not the longest hitter. Some of the lads turned up and started smacking there drives well into the trees and found it funny. A couple of minutes later one of the lads showed me a sign which asked folk not to use drivers. I hadn’t seen it. It just seems odd to have a range where you cannot warm up with a driver which is your first shot on the course

Yeah, the range is very short. I always thought it was irons only
