I don't mind the fact Fletcher misses the final. For me he's a worker but has no class and runs around clumsily like a new born foal. They've got classier midfielders than him. Nani and Anderson should play ahead of Fletcher.

Nani? Are you kidding? He has talent, yes, but is a lazy SOB and does nothing for the team.

I wouldn't mind betting that he is on his way at the end of the season.

Dodger, I think that Mr Wenger is paying the price for the ground move. He hasn't been able to compete in the transfer market like the other big three.
I think he is to be commended for keeping them up there on his budget. Next season will be a big one for him because both Villa & Everton will improve.

Wenger is soooo overated,he came in and won trophies with the team he inherited bar 2 or 3 players then had a lean spell then won a couple of league titles with 02 being the pick bit since 04's success he has only won the FA Cup....how many bosses get away with that?
They all rave about 'oh what great football they play' but the fact is he has brought on some nice players but these footballers are losers under him not winners and the club won more when they played less attractive football and had a bit of bite in the team.

Again,

How long have you been an Arsenal fan ?

If you support any football club, rate Wenger against the success you have achieved recently, if he stands up badly against what your club have achieved, then by all means tell us what we're doing is wrong.

But I suspect that your spoutings are based on either a lack of knowlegde of our club, or jealousy.

Oh, and Eduardo, Walcott, Vela, Fabregas, Nasri, Ramsey, Diaby, Song, aren't too bad. And Van Persie, Arshavin, Rosicky and Almunia would get into most squads. Yes there isn't quite the strength in depth. Whether there are players on Wengers radar that are good enough to get them up a gear is one question. but all the while we can't afford them, the question is irrelevant, and we have to cut our cloth as best we can.

Which is what he's doing.

Tell me what has he acheived in the last 5 years?

An FA Cup? Jeez come on even Milwall could have won one of those.
For the record I am a Celtic fan so while I watch english football I don't care who wins what(as long as the Toon go down)I am just sick and tired of the guy getting neverending love ins for winning nothing of any worth for the last 5 years and being praised for the 'great youngsters who play great football'.....which one of them are 'great'? certainly out of this current crop none are looking like they are going to be world class and put that up against Sir Alex' finds (some thro the system some bought early doors) this explains in part why they are becoming insignificant when it comes to winning trophies, look at the performance of Walcott v Man ure....was he actually playing or just kissing the touchline?.....the emrirates was built so they could compete with Man Ure and Chelsea but I don't see him spending any of that cash, have they got it or is it that the club is badly managed and that cash is not in fact available, was it rumour that last pre season he had 40m to spend but said he didn't need it?Either way I think he gets way to much good press for winning hee-haw.

After seeing your edit I will give you Van Persie,Fabregas and to a lesser extent Nasri but the rest are subs bench/used sparingly material for the top clubs in Europe of Barca,Man U.Song?? Jesus give me a break!

How can you call Arsene over rated he saved English football. Football clubs were drinking societies until Arsene joined Arsenal he has totaly changed the way every premier league club is run and made the game of football watchable again. Yes the Arsenal side is short of a couple of players but we have had a horrible run of injuries, I also beleive Wenger expected Flamini to stay and Rosiky to play most of this season (he hasn't played since before the Eduardo injury when we were 5 points clear at the top but ran out of players). Any way how can you say that supportng Celtic yes you have a good record in Scotland, but there are only two teams who are any good and both of them would disappear if they ever joined he premiership.

It's great to see passion about footy - I love it.

But you're coming at it from the wrong angle.

Celtic are expected to win stuff. Arsenal aren't. We win when we deserve it, like most English clubs.

Historically teams like West Ham, and Spurs were praised for playing great football but not winning stuff. At least we've done better than them, eh?

Walcott has had a tough season, with injuries etc. He is still young and improving, and isn't yet man enough to take Man Utd apart by himself - no disgrace there in my book.

Fabrgas is world class. No argument, I'm afraid. Eduardo is world class. Shame about his injuries.

Fergy has done brilliantly with his squad. But going forward Man Utd do rely heavily on Ronaldo and Rooney. And tbh, yes, I'd quite like to have them in our squad

The new stadium is there to ensure we will be able to compete into the next generation of football - it isn't a short term gain for us - in fact quite the opposite, it's a drain for the short to mid term.

The comment about the £40m was a bad quote that wasn't based on fact. Yes we can scrape some money together when Wenger has got the BEST players available - hence Arshavin joining. But it's money we can only just afford. For the long term security of the club, the vast majority of the squad have to come in on the cheap. And that is the thing that I think wenger is hugely underated on. Gallas and Silvestre are past their prime, but they were the best he could get for nowt, and he won't waste money on 2nd raters - he cares about the long term future of the club more than any other manager out there ( arguably alongside Fergy again, of course ).

In the short term Arsenal are going to struggle alongside the richer clubs, but the fact we are succeeding as well as we are is down to one person.

Wenger.

Just been readingthe dailies, I feel for young Gibbs. He has got absolutely slated. FFS he slipped!! it's not as if he gave a short back pass or anything. You could see he was affected by it.

well put, there was nothing he could do about it and as you said he is getting slated for it.

Re: OP

Fletcher's red card:

A foul? Yes (you can argue all you like but you are, I'm afraid, 100% wrong by the rules of the game - look them up).

Denying a goal-scoring opportunity? Yes.

Red card then? Yes.

Just because he a) "isn't that kind of player" doesn't make a bit of difference to the rules and b)"misses a big game as a result", they're called consequences, deal with it.

Yes, it's harsh but he committed an offence and was correctly penalised for it. Unfortunately for him, it means he cannot be selected for a game he *might* have played in. Boo-hoo.

As for dodger - can people stop responding to his blatant trolling and flaming? No-one with an ounce of footballing knowledge would think his opinions on Wenger are right unless they are a) a Spurs fan or b) mental.

:) :) :) :) :)

That made me laugh. I think if you think about it you will find that Fergie moved some big names from OT at the start due to the drinking culture. Mc Grath, Whiteside to name a couple. That was when Arsein was getting stuck into sushi in the J league long before , as you say he saved English footie.

I didnt think my opening post would have opened up such a can of whoop ass....

Mods, have a word. Many other fora would not tolerate this incessant trolling in posts.

Great thread wish I had time to get stuck in.

Fletchers tackle was brilliant, regardless of what part of the player he got it was a legal tackle and the ref got it way wrong. Ball first player second. No mallace etc.

Even from tv you could see it was a good tackle and it was same view as ref just along way behind. We could all see it that far away he should.

Gutted for fletcher but hope it don't get over turned. Rules are rules.

Good effort on swings and round about post. Argued that with my pal ( Liverpool fan)

As for nani anderson better than fletcher. Haha yeah right, maybe on FIFA street. C.L your havin a laugh.

Tony, Sorry mate but you are wrong, if definately WASNT a legal tackle.

A defender getting a nick on the ball doesnt then entitle him to totally take the man out second, that is a foul by the letter of the law and was punished correctly.

I dont agree with stupid rules like that and I am gutted for Fletcher.
