One of the four grand slam tournaments in golf.
Many non-Americans would regard it as the second best major to win, while Americans generally regard their Open as more desireable, but still behind the The Masters. Third best major - I still wouldnt say no though.

I'm not completely happy with that description either. Too vague.

Strange that. I thought that the 4 (in no particular order) were The Masters Tournament, The U.S. Open, The Open Championship, and The PGA Championship. What's this "British Open" that you were talking about?
