"other undoubtedly talented, arrogant, self opinionated Belgian who despite getting paid millions doing what he loves doing, spends his whole time moaning and complaining about everything and how nothing is his fault."

Can we swop Belgian for Brit? Throw in a few more world championships too?
No he doesn't drive for red bull 😜😁👍

Thought Norris was a bit unlucky, as Max was always going to run him off the track.

If it was going to be an inevitable penalty, his team should have told him to give place back and give him a chance to overtake again

Yeah think they should've told him to give it back right away and had another go at Max... Was a bit disappointed that it took Norris so long with the DRS to get passed.. Great defending from Max I suppose..
Looks like the advantage the mclaren had over the RB is gone unfortunately... Really hoped Norris would've gained some points to keep the championship going.

horses for courses, McLaren always said it was a track that did not suit their car to the best.

Looks like the stewards had already made up their minds about that corner and his team should have told to give it back based upon the other penalties.

The issue I have, is that the stewards gave Russell a penalty for doing pretty much what Verstappen did, and pushing Bottas off the track (even though Russell at least stayed on the track). Then they gave Norris a penalty after Verstappen pretty much pushed them both off the track.

For me, the types of penalty need to be reviewed. I'd agree that a driver doesn't have a right to overtake on the outside, especially on a tight corner where the driver on the inside will naturally move to the very outside of the track on the exit. But, I think the driver on the inside should have to stay on the track when defending their position, and it not be treated as just another standard track limits violation. For me, any time Max Verstappen defends on the inside on the approach to a corner, he simply carries too much pace to the apex of the corner (to try and make it before the other driver), and then just allows himself to leave the track on the exit (at least when there is a run off area)

They need to review that rule really. It's stupid that if you reach the apex first then it's your corner as all you are seeing is the inside guy carry far too much speed to make sure he is ahead at the apex but has no chance of actually taking the corner himself. We saw that with Max yesterday, yes he reached the apex first but he also went completely off the track while running Lando even wider.

As you say, if you defend on the inside and can't keep that car on the track then if the outside guy goes past you just have to treat it as "a racing incident" and let them get on with it.

Max is a canny operator. He's basically cleverer than the stewards and used it to his advantage.

Leading up to the corner, Lando had definitely got his nose ahead. So Max deliberately stopped braking in order to get slightly back ahead at the apex, knowing full well that by doing so he wouldn't make the corner. This is very sneaky, and it's a pity that the stewards are too dim witted to understand that's what he did. (Or maybe they did understand, but the rules as they are currently meant their hands were tied?)

Some data has now been published that shows a slightly different sequence of events regarding Max's braking.
He didn't stop braking - he just didn't start braking at all until 30 metres after Lando (by which time Lando had already passed him).
By doing this he knew he'd get to the apex in front but he also knew that he would fail to make the corner.
So the intention and outcome was the same - just the precise method of execution was different.

One damning piece of evidence is article 33.3 of the sporting regulations, which states:
"Drivers must make every reasonable effort to use the track at all times and may not leave the track without a justifiable reason."
Max's deliberate late braking, knowing he wouldn't make the corner, clearly voilates this regulation.

Expecting a good race later going by how tight the Ferrari, McLaren and RB were in qualifying.
Pity Perez didn't do better for the Mexican fans. I am sure they will still have fun in the stadium section.
Come on Norris...

About time Max got a penalty, been getting away with that style of driving far too long.

Would like to have seen Horners face when it came on the radio
