Equal Pay

I think that they all 'work' pretty similar hours in general. I'm sure they all train pretty equal and that's work as far as I'm concerned. My primary reason for the question is that I don't think the woman's game brings in as much revenue and is actually a drain on the men's game.

But by that argument I am sure the women tennis players train just as hard as the men. As for revenue then possibly, but then again I'd pay good money to see 3 sets of Sharapova V Wozniacki, more than I would to see 5 sets of Tsonga V Gasquet. And the top 4 most highly paid female athletes over the last few years have all been tennis players. Plus in tennis, only Federer earned more than Sharapova last year. And her, Serena and Li Na all earned more than Andy Murray.

Fair enough. But I do think this argument about paying sports starts based on the amount of work they do falls down a bit with Usain Bolt. I mean the guys runs for 10 seconds at most, yet gets paid shed loads more than the marathon runners. It's political correctness gone mad I tells you ;)

But everyone else in Bolts sport does it around ten secs

Male tennis player in slams play best out of 5 - the ladies best out of 3 yet they want equal prize money for playing less - would you like someone to do the same job as you but 2 hours less work a day but still get paid the same ?

As for golf - the prize money is dictated by the sponsership given by companies

In golf the ladies game isn't televised as much so sponsership isn't as high

I fully agree that the woman work just as hard as the men. And yeah they earn well through sponsorship. But they aren't being paid that because of their skill, they are being paid it as they look good on a poster. And it's clearly worked on you by you saying your rather watch the ladies than the men. Because the male tennis match would be far superior. The simple fact is that in all other sports where men/woman's game are run individually the men's game rules and the stars earn more money. That is because by and large the game played by the men is of a better standard. So as I've repeated many times already. Without the men's game, the woman's prize money would drop significantly as the sponsors pay to show the men's game, not the woman's. The watch, perfumes and clothes companies pay the women. As you've pointed out, those woman earn more than Murray due to then being more attractive, surely that's sexist by them companies....... The woman as assets to the game of tennis do not warrant the prize money they attain. That's not sexist, just business.
