Had my target at Christmas to get from 14 to single figures in a year. Had to reevaluate a couple of weeks ago and changed my target to 12. Well I've hit that (11.7) so it looks like the single figures is still on. Oh and yet to make an eagle in a comp off the whites as that was another little challenge. Apart from them 2 I think it's been a really successful year. Met loads of new people and hopefully made a lot of new friends.

It's been a mixed year for me.

My intention was to play twice a week and get my handicap down to 9.4 but as it turned out I struggled to play once a fortnight and, despite making good progress early on, I got stuck in a rut and finished the season not much better than where I started. From 12.2 to 10.4 and eventually back up to finish at 11.5.

The weather in the first part of the season really bothered me. It was unusually windy and cold for so long and I just didn't enjoy the golf, I got frustrated, tried to hit the ball harder and it led to many bad situations. As the weather picked up I felt much happier and started to put some better scores in and then in August I went and injured my foot whilst running and that kiboshed the golf for longer than I would have liked in the season's tail end.

On the positive side, my putting has improved a great deal this year and it's saved me from many worse scores. Playing the Old Course in its Open setup the week it closed for the championship was amazing, and getting a sneaky tee shot off the championship tee on the 17th was a glorious moment to treasure.

Best of all, I met many great people and made new friends through golf. That's all that matters in the end and I'm very happy with that.

I didn't get down to single figures (again), but I did keep my handicap about the same, did win a number of vouchers in comps and did have a reasonable match play record. My chipping has definitely improved, so that's a plus. About B- overall.

Only joined a club for the first time in June and have been learning about competitions, handicaps etc since then and still have a long way to go.

My first target was to beat 100 by the end of the year and achieved that in five weeks with a 96, but have only managed it again once since.

The second goal was to start and finish a round with the same ball and have done that once and in a competition too.

I've had a couple of lessons now and am looking at where I want to be this time next year. That will initially be getting a handicap down to 18.

My first year at Blackmoor is about to end, my handicap has gone up, which is dissapointing (but not surprising) but I think I have learned a lot about my game, particularly my weaknesses. I think I'm a better all round player now than I was a year ago but only time will tell.

Since I didn't set any targets it's hard to judge my performance but I'll go for a solid 'C'.

Enjoyed your first year ?

Down from 11.3 to 7.5 at the age of 58, which I am very pleased with, especially as I suffer from spondylitis and can really only shuffle it round. Played quite a few different courses, some top quality, some less so, but good fun nonetheless. Enjoyed the company of a lot of different folks on and off the course. Starting to play again a couple of years ago is the best thing I have done in years.

Overall, I would award my season an A

Well done.

Chap who was a member at my Club got his handicap to it lowest, 3, when he was in his late 60's. Time for most of us still.

Like many a mixed bag, hc came down from 25 to 21. A monthly meadal win, 2 society wins and a 2nd, other wins with the groups of lads I play with all points to a cracking year.

Offset that with the occasional 120, slices, hooks, duffs, fats, thins, putting so bad you wouldn't believe. All this on one hole by the way...

I dunno, playing like I was in July b+. Playing like I did in September f. So somewhere in the middle I guess

Heres to aiming for one shot a hole next year

Haven't read the replies, just replying to the subject question.

Yes, I have - I've played loadsa golf, enjoyed every single round and can't wait for my next game, rain or shine.

Target met and long may it continue.

It's been an A+ season for me despite only playing four rounds of 18 holes this calendar year. I've hit some good shots and hit some bad shots but I've really enjoyed playing. I've been out on a Par 3 course several times as well with my 6 year old son and for the first time ever he halved a hole with me and also beat me on a hole for the first time. I've also seen him get his first ever par and his first ever birdie and the look on his face when he did it means that it has to be an A+ season.

At the start of the season I have myself the goal of getting to single figures which I unbelievably achieved after the first weekend of the season.

However I im only giving myself a B-

I got ahead of myself, instead of just playing the game I tried far far too hard started doing silly things and havent really kicked on, Golf became stressful. I worried more about my handicap than playing this silly game for fun. Luckily a bounce fun game with some friends brought me back to my senses and a few lessons with the Pro seems to have set me on the right road again.

I managed to play some amazing courses this year so its not all bad.

B for me. Though been a massive roller coaster year.

Joined a top course but quickly found out it takes no prisoners. Has taken me most of the season to figure out it is what it is. Now loving every minute playing there.

Worked too hard on improving and after some good advice from NW colleagues have started to settle in to playing golf better.

My game has had all components firing at one time or another, but never all together at once. Closest I've been is a couple of 85's (one at Aberdovey!).

Starting to feel my swing better and as result have seen some massive improvements. Am am more relaxed about playing, I know it'll come together at some point, and determined to enjoy it whilst I wait.

Target was to get down to 18 and at I end the year im 18.5 so can't complain. Just need to stay ahead of Davemc1, which will be hard work as he's in danger of it all coming together soon too!

Came second in division in one comp and second in an open where I was playing to a handicap restriction 3 lower than mine.

On top of that have played some great courses and with some brilliant people off this forum, some of whom I hope will be friends for a long time.

I'll be generous and give myself an A.

Had two main goals for this year and one slightly longer term.

1, get to cat 1 - i was off about 6.something - now 4.6. Done

2, win a board comp - Definitely won one, possibly three and a midweek comp.

3, longer term goal - play well in RAF events and gain a spot in the team - due to courses and other bits i've only played two events this year but one was the RAF champs, made the cut and finished 23rd out of 60-65ish. Having made the cut it has opened up a few opportunities which is great.

One more comp to go this year - on sunday - the champion of champions trophy. A 0.2 cut would be perfect.

A bit of a C- for me this year.

Stated the year with a lesson or two and a real ambition to try and get down to 13 - 14 but it just didn't happen and in fact it was just a steady stream of 0.1's.

I started the season on 16.7 and over the summer I had crept back up to 17.7 all whilst hitting the ball as far and as well as I had ever done.

However I got my first cut and my new club to claim back most of those 0.1s so will start next season on 17 again.

Still have one more medal to play at Thornton and although the course is soaking, I'm going out to play with the lads before my membership finishes. Let's see if I can squeeze a bit more out of that handicap.

Feel ive figured out my game at last , after a disasterous year of .1's & bad scores ive had a couple of cuts & a good few buffers
Have sorted my short game & my putting to a point where im uber confident over shots ..

Big pity is it took me until now to find it , only 2 possibly 3 qualifiers left & .5 to cut needed to get back where i started season

Positive end to the season takes some of the anguish away ..

End of Year Report .. F .. hard work at end of term didnt save the season (yet) but definitely signs of understanding the game more , no reason next year cant be alot better

2015 goal of Cat 1 .. NOT achieved
