C steady unspectacular played much better than last year actually had some buffers and couple of small cuts although evened out over the year. Threatened the really good score in comp but silly mistakes cost me. Overall reasonably happy but with although of what might of been.

F-

Started crap, proceeded steadily downhill from there.. Played less than usual, shot higher than usual, and only really enjoyed the craic rather than the actual golf.........

I'll give it a C.
I have played more, and not had to miss any time through my back flaring up.
But my game hasn't been good this year - too many missed fairways leading to scrambling for Par rather than attacking for birdies.
Handicap is now 0.1 higher than the start of the season.

B+

Ended the season lower than I started.

Played a mix of great and shocking golf. Never much over or under buffer.

A definite case of can/must o better.

I'd give myself a straight B

Started at 13.3, finished at 12.3 (with a dalliance into 14 for a week).

Ball striking getting better, short game is a lot better than it was, but putting still needs more attention.

1 shot drop over the year, aiming to do the same or better next year.

C

Shot 85 but didn't break it. A big move added a lot of stress toward the end of the golf season so didn't get to play anywhere near as much as I'd have liked. Going to put some good work in over the winter, get some more lessons sorted and try and hit the ground running next season!

Got to be A*. I came into the season having never played golf (apart from a lesson about 10 years ago), and no thoughts about playing golf. Played the work golf day on the local par 3 course and enjoyed myself, won the nearest the pin comp, and decided to borrow some clubs and have a knock at the range. Enjoyed it even more, so played some courses and worked hard at my swing.
So yeah, considering I had no season expectations I smashed them.
Long winter now to work on my swing, and maybe fit in a few rounds on local links courses if the weather is kind.

B

So close to achieving my goal of getting down to 12 this year

Struggled in the early part of the year, but over the last few months I think my game around the green has improved so much, getting up and down in 2/3 rather than 3/4 shots. Summed it up last Sunday when in our 1st Winter Stableford of the season my driving was the worst it has been all year, yet somehow I managed to come in with 40pts and a cut, nobody more surprised than me

Most importantly had a great year of golf with some great people, so playing well was just a bonus

Ha ha a big fat U for me.

Started at 7 with high hopes, fell off my bike in January and damaged my shoulder, played too soon afterwards and must have practised the wrong things and this has set the whole season off.

Now one comp from 10 but still enjoyed the season and hacked my way round some lovely courses so not too worried about the handicap at all.

Odvan will be giving me shots soon so every cloud and all that :D

I would have to say C-, had plans of getting down to 20 from 28 but only managed 25.

A lot to do with inexperience of having card in hand but also very poor preparation- turned up hungover/still drunk on far too many comps where my faculties were far from perfect.

A bit worried as end of last summer started shooting in the 90's in bounce games then when came back was back up over 100 and same thing has happened again this year as past month have been striking it well. A bit worried after Christmas same might happen.

Next years target is to get to 18 which could be done in 2 good rounds so definitely think I have that in me

Weird year with goals rewritten halfway thorough the season. B rating i guess?

Played poorly the first half with poor play and no confidence but managed one good score (out of several failed attempts!) winning my favorite trophy and getting cut to 1. Decided to rebuild my game of fading the ball and went back to the draw I had as a kid. Striking it better and what's more I'm enjoying the game much more, so hopefully building some potential for next year.

Had some great times with friends and opponents playing a few nice courses so consider myself very fortunate. Additionally, as a young(ish - 42) arthritis sufferer, I'm still immensely lucky to even be out on a course thanks entirely to some terrific people working in the NHS and some pretty cool drugs. Talking to others (it's national arthritis awareness week - lots of info around by the way for anyone with worries or concerns) reminds me how tough it can be for folks just trying to get on with their basic lives and there's me whittling on about golf...

job to put a score to my year.im still off 14 and buffered all but one comp so on that score it would be a C.but i did shoot my first ever level par gross round this year and that was an amazing feeling holing out for birdie on the last from two feet to do it.
then OH DEAR,less than three weeks later and im in hospital with a busted knee. still in traction from that.
so what score for me .well it finished F- but with a touch of A+ for one round.

I'd say a B for me.

Handicap hasn't reduced as much as I would have liked but that was curtailed by a terrible June where i went up 0.6! Since then i've played some great golf!

I've shot 4 rounds under par, and broken 70 twice.

I was unbeaten in my matches for the club (we got promoted).

Best of all, i have played some of the best courses in the country - Notts, Sherwood Forest, Saunton, Ganton, Alwoodley, Moortown, West Hill, RND, St Mellion, Hankley Common.

I also got to play with Rooter :D

Next season, i need to play at my own club more and i would expect my handicap to fall quite quickly following that.

A+ for me.

Handicap come down from 7.0 to 4.6

Had my first ever under par rounds

First season playing club team golf and won the league

Couple of great weekends away golfing that were a great laugh

Good finish in a 36 hole open

Finished 4th in 36 hole club scratch championship, well beyond expectations.

Had some great days out with the NW crew at opens and general games including OOM.

Only weird thing is I didn't win any individual comps despite playing the best golf I ever have and handicap tumbling but not too bothered by that.

Roll on next year and a mountain of 0.1's!!!

going for a D.

only exceeded my handicap once all year -37 points in a rollup which was not a qualifier. In terms of Handicap it was an F, but I have enjoyed the golf at the new club, even the bad days.

Changed clubs over winter so had a big learning curve, also changed my irons which probably added to the poor golf.

14.7 has been a high water mark for me in the last 2 years, at 14.6 I hope that trend continues and I can see a drop some time in the future. Started the year on 13.2 and up to 14.6 so could do with a buffer/cut of some sort to boost the morale.

D for me. Joined a club for the first time in June and had high expectations to get down quickly. Reality is that golfing excellence doesn't just come by effort alone! Might need to reset expectations for the next year and just aim for small decrements. I do love it though :)

I am going ungraded this year :) I only started playing in July, I LOVE GOLF!! I was spending £300 a month on green fees, I've recently just joined a golf club, and I am in the process of collecting my cards to get my first handicap! Only one more to get! I started off in my first ever game hitting 136. I have now had a couple of lessons and on Sunday I scored 102!! I had a chance with the last three holes of the round to get under a 100 and it started great with a birdie on a par 3!! but I kind of choked a bit! I have no idea what my handicap will eventually be, my first card I have is scored at 124, the second one was 112, my next one will hopefully by under 100. fingers xssed! I used game golf to mark the last round on my phone, have a look...see how terrible I am :D

C- for me , 0.1 more than i started the season but finally am now settled on my set up and after having bought some mizzy wedges 3 months ago my 100 yards and in game has been transformed for the better. Midweek medal next Wednesday is my last chance to get cut before we go to the course being a winter set up.

Looks like you're in a very similar boat to me and doing better than me. Good job :)

B overall for me this year.

First and foremost I've had a lot of fun and met some nice new folks playing golf so that part has been an A.

Ball striking, overall consistency and distance control has improved a lot, which has helped with self-belief and not falling apart with a card in hand.

Handicap started at 14.6, two nice wins in decent club comps early doors got me to 12.6 by early July. Then I hit the 'buffers' , a whole pile of them, and a few 0.1's which sees me on 12.9 right now. Hopefully only a matter of time before all the components click in the same round and I can reclaim my bandit tag.

I'm pretty sure there was a thread at the beginning of the year with our targets for the year and two of mine were a double-bogey free round in a medal and breaking 80 in a medal, neither or which I have achieved - so F for me there.

Played my first Open (at Dunbar) which I enjoyed a lot and may repeat that at a few more next season.

Overall I started the season thinking ever reaching 9.4 was an impossible pipe-dream... now I'm not so sure :) so that has to be good!
