It's getting to the end of the golfing season for most of us now so how has your year been? Have you achieved your targets?

Are you an A+, F- or somewhere inbetween?

Mine has been pretty good, achieved my handicap target of getting back down to Cat1 although I've crept back up a little. Had an open competition win and played a couple of bucketlist courses so pretty good for me.

Handicap wise C- as I've gone up and not down
Ball striking B+ much improved
Chipping B- so much better than a year ago

Had a win, did OK at Blackmoor and Hillside so can't grumble. Just need to get some cuts to reflect what I think is an improved game in general. Need to cut out the car crash holes blighting the cards

A+

Enjoyed myself all year , played some cracking courses with some great company

Done well in comps throughout the year with wins at club , forum meets and places in Opens

Nice one Phil, enjoyment is what it's all about  :D

Probably a B- The main aim at the start of the year was to get back to Cat 1 - check. Play good golf - there was some dross and some spectacular golf - half check. Although my long irons and hybrids into greens have been very good. Maybe would have prefered a bit more consistency - not check. Play more courses - check.

I'll say C.

Only buffered once all year and had 7 0.1s in the 8 comps I've managed to play. I've hit the ball pretty well for the most part, though, and made some small improvements to my putting and short game - I just can't play consistently enough to play consistently, if you know what I mean.

However, I've loved playing and haven't had a round I didn't enjoy, and managed to play a couple of cracking courses too, so it has still been a good year.

Firstly, well done to all who have achieved what they want and for the rest unlucky!

:-)

My first full year, well I joined in March, and I was a 22 handicap. Felt my golf was better than that but aimed to get to 18. Last weekend I was cut to 16.3 so happy with that!

Played at a few courses that I wanted to like the Oxfordshire.

Won a monthly medal and a couple of Pro Roll ups. Playing in the 'Champ of Champs ' in a couple of weeks time so the final goal is to get places in that!

Ultimate aim is to get to single figures so here's to next year!

Not reached my handicap target of 15, although it's not over yet. Putting has gone from being the worst part of my game to the best so that's a positive and iron play has been largely solid. I must improve off the tee to reach my goals.

Started the season at 18 (17.9) with the goal to get to 14, and also to post a competition win this season.

Have ended the season on 12 (11.6) so not only met my target but smashed it by at least 0.9; also won a two-round weekend comp that is considered one of our season's 'majors' as well as rack up a series of divisional podium finishes, and reached the final of the 'C'-division championship.

Been a great season for me, and I reckon I'm worth a solid A ... a mid-season slump that saw 4 NRs in 5 comps prevents a A+.

Solid A for me. Set 9.4 as my target and finished on 9.0

Did I play well all the time? No but then I never expect to. But bloody hell, I have enjoyed myself more this year than for many.
Bit the bullet on swinging hard (mainly to protect my knee) and found a rhythm that seems to work.

Good year for me.

Big fat F for me started of at 11.8 now 13.7, golf has been shocking was on the verge of putting the clubs away for the winter it was that bad. Have played some cracking courses tho.

I started the season at 12.2 and finished it at 11.3. I went up to 14 mid summer, sorted out my short game and had a quick return to 11.

I'd say a solid b+.

Started the season at 16.4, dropped that to 14.2 by the end of the season, improved accuracy off the tea but my putting was up and down all year. Won my first medal and placed third in my first club major. I'll give myself a B 😊

Two months ago i was a D-

Forgotten how to hit a ball and had my head infected by 100 new swing thoughts and clutter. Had a few lessons and they sent my head west, which was the same direction as the ball went after i had hit it.

Then i developed a slice

A bliming slice! Played for nearly 10 years on and off and never sent the ball right. My tee shots always drew or suffered a huge hook. Neither were nice, however the slice had ruined my confidence of the tee completely.

3 off the tee was becoming the rule and by the time i had made it to the green my putting / short game also suffered as its hard to get motivated when you are already staring at a double bogey before you get within 50 yards of the flag.

This was happening even though i was practicing maybe 4 times a week and having further lessons.

was atrocious with card in hand and have gone up .5 this year, when i had very achievable aspirations of getting down to 14 (from 18). Seemed reasonable seeing i was shooting low 80's round my place more often than not during bounce games.

Just never materialized and i was really down in the dumps

Honestly i was in a right rut.

However. i do have a good work ethic when it comes to practicing and during the last 6 weeks i am slowly hitting the ball like i did 12 months ago. Better in fact

shot a very good score on Saturday in felt really in control of my swing. Range session tonight and again i am hitting the ball really well.

So i am slightly happier and will change my overall score to C-

H/C wont be moving anywhere but im getting into good place finally.

Going to smash it next year i know it.......

maybe...

Happy with my season but not happy as well
At start of season I was off 6 and just crept up to 7
Actually wasn't even expecting to get my three cards in at some point this year. Couples changes of jobs stopped me playing golf. Also the 2nd youth was born few weeks back.

But had couple lessons and to be honest different ball flight and shot shape. Hit the ball well all year.

Roll on next year. Just joined a club more local so will get more golf in hopefully

The goal, as always, is to play more and enjoy it.
Both boxes ticked.
Although I haven't won as much at club level I've generally played a lot better than last year, throwing in some nice low scores. Stroke average, birdie count, FIR, GIR, putts, short game all improved. And despatching Fragger on a regular basis always helps!
Handicap reduced too.
My elbow issue isn't going to stop me playing but it is affecting my swing a touch so not expecting to set the world alight over the winter.

A+ this year went from 11 to 9 h`cap wise so got what I set out to do this year, plus over £250 in pro shop vouchers to put the cherry on top of a very nice cake.:whoo::thup:
