Electric Trolleys -specifically Go Kart

I would personally buy a trolley that doesn't have to go back to the manufacturer all the time.

Where has anybody said (other than me) that their trolley has had to go back to the manufacturer?
I had two problems....

1) A friend, who thought he was doing me a favour, stuck his foot out to stop my trolley going into a bunker. I thought I had turned it off, but I hadn't. It didn't switch itself on by accident, I'm a prat and I thought I had turned it off. My mate didn't know the layout of the trolley so he did what he thought was best. My trolley went arse over end and it broke. It was an accident, not a design fault. Entirely my fault. I phoned Gokart and explained the situation. Most companies would have said "accidental damage is not covered by your warranty". GoKart didn't. They came and picked my trolley up free of charge the very next day. The lent me a replacement trolley whilst they attended to mine. Again, no charge. They fixed my trolly, as good as new. No charge. They returned it to me free of charge. They didn't have to. They did. Where is the problem in that?

2) My rubber bungee strap broke on the bottom of the trolley. It's rubber. In this funny old world we live in, rubber perishes. I didn't complain to GoKart, it's a 50p bloody bungee. I was going to buy a replacement at Halfords. But I mentioned it on here in passing. Sandy watches the site, and saw my comment. She didn't email me, contact me or anything. But two days later a new bungee strap arrived. And guess what? It was free of charge.

You stick with what you know best though. I'll put my money with Gokart and recommend to everybody I speak to that they do the same.

Everybody seems to sing the praises of Go Kart's customer services but I would personally buy a trolley that doesn't have to go back to the manufacturer all the time. I'll be sticking with my Motocaddy S3, it's never let me down, still on the original battery, looks good and isn't made of plastic.
Hang on a second. I've not ever had to send mine back in the 2.5 years I've had it. The bungee cord has snapped and a free one sent immediately. As it's made of rubber it will eventually wear out, which I had no problem with. I pulled the strap too tightly and it snapped. All my fault... free one sent out.

Snap a strap on your Motocaddy and see if they'll send you a free one (out of warranty, I hasten to add).

I've seen a number of disatisfied customers from other manufacturers when things have gone wrong (and they do go wrong with other makes!), but I can count on one hand the disatisfied GoKart customers.

I get seriously annoyed with the knocking of the GoKart for being "unreliable"! Mine isn't.

And another thing, not sure how many users of other trolleys confess to having to send theirs back, as they don't want to admit they got nowhere near the service we GoKart users get.

But glad you're happy with the Motocaddy... and I hope it continues to run trouble free for you.

Mate I play with bought a Go Kart trolley over three years ago and has had no problems. Nice to know that if something does go wrong, it will get sorted so quickly though. Unfortunately good customer service seems to be a rarity these days. :(

When I am old enough to need an electric trolley I will get one too.

You just touch it, start walking, and the trolley adjusts it's speed to your walking pace. If you want to speed up/slow down a little, just adjust your pace. It works in reverse too...just back up, the trolley senses it and it will go backwards.
Stop walking, and the trolley stops.
It really is a superb inovation, and increases the appeal of an already good product.
I think the automatic version is going to be sold alongside the current model so you will have a choice.
The auto version will obviously be more expensive than the standard trolley but then the opposition charge more for similar technology, so only to be expected.
Depends on how much you want to pay, what you want the trolley to do and how quickly you want it.
But as I say, the automatic is such a good idea, I will be paying for an upgrade to mine as soon as it becomes available.

Glad you enjoyed using the Auto! Just one little amend; the Auto feature doesn't allow the trolley to drive backwards. It adjusts the speed (start/faster/slower/stop) in the one forward direction.
Maybe you just thought the earth moved, Smiffy?

And yes, correct, the Auto will be sold alongside the standard and will be £40 more expensive. And the Standard will be upgradable although it's a back-to-base job. News on that soon.
Great game yesterday. Laughed a lot. In a good way :)

Thanks Sandy, so when will the new Auto one be available to purchase?

I have a Motokaddy S3 with the Lithium battery and I think it is an excellent trolley.

That auto feature Gokart sounds interesting, a little creepy with the machines obviously on the verge of developing intelligence and killing all the humans, but in the meantime handy on a golf course.

I don't want to put a date on it, but it's soon - how about you message me sandy@gokart.co.uk and I can put you on the mailing list of people to contact the moment it's available? If you're interested in the Auto, I'd say hang on a week or so.

thanks, no point in buying now then sending back for the upgrade so I'll hang on as you suggest

My motocaddy S1 just severed it's axel. £40 for a new one and ,from what I've read, a lot of hassle to fix and I can't seem to find the other parts I need online.

I was looking at the Gokart last night and as it seem it will take the new battery I had only just purchased for my S1 it is a very tempting prospect. I think it looks simple but effective and folded down is probably the neatest trolley on the market. Love the battery system as well.

Do I need any more convincing or should I bite the bullet and get is shipped ASAP.

my dad had the lithium powakaddy the last model had nothing but trouble with it spoke to the head man and they gave him the new lithium sport and a matching bag for his trouble and the new trolley is excelent alot better than the older version

Just do it, you will not regret it.

Go Karts customer service is second to none. I've had one over 2 1/2 years now. This year I managed to fracture the frame twice due to mishaps on the course (letting the cart go when going up hill one time and it tipped up - letting it go on the downhill one time and it impacted in a small dip on a very dry course). Despite being out of warranty, both times it was picked up, a loan provided and repaired FOC - with me paying the shipping. I can't quibble with that.

My son now has the Go Kart and is very happy with it.

Despite the good service, when it came to a new cart for myself, I went with a Motocaddy S1. I like the style very much, the white/ red looks smart, and Go Kart still don't do a black/ yellow combo :-(

I did look around and was warned off Powacaddy by a couple of people mentioning that they had been going through a bad patch with reliability, and poor service to back it up. I stress that is what I was told, by one golf shop and one golf pro. Decided on the Motocaddy and am also very happy with that.

For the most part, it will all come down to budget and personal preference for the design, once you've bought, they should all perform in much the same way. I did feel that the Go Kart price, which increased last year(?) was closer to the Motocaddy/ Powacaddy prices now than when I first bought mine, therefore allowed the other models to enter the equation.

I wasn't referring to you directly Smiffy but the many previous threads over quite some time that continued to bang on about GoKart's customer service. If the trolleys are so good how come people keep having to contact them. I've owned 2 Motocaddy's over quite a few years now (had an S1 and decided to upgrade to S3) and have never had any need to contact anybody at Motocaddy about anything. By the way a friend of mine has my old S1 and it is still lapping the course about 3 times a week without any issues. My trolleys have upended going up hills and all the other mishaps that befall electric trolleys when we don't follow the instructions and it has never snapped in 2

Same as my powakaddy......

GoKarts break no more or less than other models (All though I'd hazard a guess at less)

The reason you see so many 'customer service' threads is that it's fantastic. When you send your other brand back, it takes a few weeks, and eventually you get it back a bit later...it's your bog standard service (so nobody post threads going 'wow' what great service).
With GoKart when something goes wrong, they're on it like Flynn, fixing faster than you can blink, and even when small things break which are ususally our fault, like the bungee cord or the card holder, give 'em a whistle, free one in the post next day.
Try that will your powercaddies.

So to summarise:
Other brands customer service = average or bad. Nobody posts about.

GoKart customer service = Awesome, and we're so suprised at it we make a post!

Got it?

no brainer really, I got a 2nd hand powerbug off ebay for 100 quid (if I remember rightly) and the battery is shagged, so another 40 quid ish to shell out, might aswell got a new gokart, which I was debating at the time. Ebeneezar got the better of me and I now regret it :(

apologies to Sandy et al :)

I have absolutely no idea what powakaddy's customer service is like as I have never had the need to speak to them. I have had my trolley for over 4 years and even though I have let it fall over several times it seems to be made of sterner stuff than the go kart and not broken.

Got it??

I prefer to carry myself but a mate of mine has a remote control trolley. No idea what make it is but it gives me the creeps. I've played with him a thousand times but it still freaks me out when I go to put my club in my bag when it's next to his trolley and it moves off on it's own.
