I don't see why not.

If allowing members to wear jeans is allowed it may in courage a little extra revenue as people will call in to the bar socially not just after a round.

+1. My club needs to do this asap in my opinion. Other clubs of similar level have done it and it's worked, I can't understand what the issue is personally.

Yes, smart denim not fashion ripped denim in the spike bar only, not in a lounge area or the restaurant and nowhere after 7pm.

Smart denim should be allowed in the bar (restrictions applying - such as time and in bar area only) lets not forget the bar isn't just for golfers coming in after a round, this strict dress code policy inhibits passing members popping in for a pint and a chat.

I put yes but it depends at what kind of club. Most clubs should be yes but if I went to a really posh club for the day I think dressing for dinner is part of the day.

Definitely in the bar.

I would argue that a lot of the time when I go in for a drink after work in dark jeans and a jumper, I look smarter than the majority of golfers adhering to the dress code - especially those still in golf shoes with grass/mud stains on their trousers!

I'm not saying the latter should be banned, just that in terms of 'smartness' in the bar, I feel jeans can be perfectly acceptable.

yes just because its a golf club that doesnt mean that the only people that are in the club have just fionished playing golf. some might go there just for a social or just for a pint and why should they have to dress up just for that.

Totally agree, no place for jeans on the course, but smart jeans (not work) in the bar areas a must in todays age.

I too voted yes, but on the proviso that they are smart, most people pay more for a pair of jeans than they do for their golf trousers or even suit trousers.

Oh and anyone who wears them with the belt half way down their thighs should be publicly flogged - whether in the golf club or the high Street!

I've said no, but upon reflection, I think it would depend on the circumstance, your club may run entertainment nights where jeans would be appropriate.

Best of both worlds at my club. Jeans are allowed in the casual bar and not in the knob's bar. Guess which one I use.
