Do nice guys win?

Good for Rory. His sole focus was to win the Master's not make friends and have a chit chat. As for him being unpopular, I think if your friendship group, as shown by Lowry and Fleetwood celebrating with him, is tight then who cares about the wider noise. He's a grand slam winner, an amazing golfer, a father and seems to have a fantastic family around him. I doubt he cares about the click bait

That’s what happens when someone is that good - again that’s not his fault though

No it happens when someone is favoured

Do they cream themselves over brooks? 5 majors? Faldo was picking byrson apart even when he hit good shots despite being a major winner

It's a popularity contest. Rory is the tours golden child

Is that not Faldos right to have an opinion 🤷‍♂️

Same with McGinley

I suspect the US channels would have gone mad about Koepka

He is a home golfer , the channel based in his home will back him

You don’t win a golf competition based on popularity

Rory is a generational talent within golf

He has just completed something in the sport that only 5 others have achieved throughout its history - he is a legend in the game

Tbf Faldo was talking about himself more than the round itself!!

Not 100% it's a popularity contest, I think it's mainly about celebrating/acknowledging the player that won the Masters and is the 2nd player in 60 years to do the grand slam.

Watch how the crowds take to Bryson, the views on YouTube .. his handing his golf ball to a kid goes miles in growing the game ..

He's done wonders for the sport since he left the tour

How many of them are already golf fans

If they are already into golf in what way is it growing the game

Not read all this thread, but got the gist of it and saw the furore in a number of publications this morning. Total non story. The guys were playing in the final group on Sunday at The Masters - not in a Texas Scramble with high handicap mates.

I’d have been surprised if they had been laughing and joking all the way round if I’m honest.

And the (mainly) American spectators were chanting and routing for Rory, not BDC without him doing any hystrionics.

That was very noticeable from the opening couple of holes. Seems as though a lot more of those across the pond have taken McIlroy to their hearts than on these shores!

Some serious clutching at straws going on here tonight to diminish Rory's acheivement.

See post #68 that Arthur/Phil posted: “Is that not Faldos right to have an opinion 🤷‍♂️”….Are people now not allowed an opinion amidst the golf media circle jerk?? 🤷‍♂️

He won a Major. He completed the modern (career) ‘Grand Slam‘

👏🏻

Faldo was and is absolutely correct that bryson needs to play with a bit more finesse around agusta.
Beating bags of balls and having the hooks was never going to get it done.
Faldo has 3 green jackets. The fella knows how to get it done.
The amount of stick he seems to get baffles me. He has a dream major collection.
3 time winner around agusta. Of course he is going to talk constantly about how he did it and what the guys should be doing.

Exactly.

That's why he is employed by Sky at The Masters and The Open, to offer an insight based upon his winning experience.

Far more interesting than listening to Wayne Riley who, fortunately, can't be heard at The Masters due to their ban on "inside the ropes" coverage.
