Played in a medal yesterday and I was hopeless in just about every department. 6 over my handicap. I'm hoping this is a result of not playing for a month.

How did you get on at the weekend?

I had 39pts in a stbleford comp so I'm happy! Another cut to add to the cut of 1.5 I had a few weeks ago, my 2012 has started well!

Mare here as well. Played Pants.

Started and finished well, but too many loose shots in the middle of the round.
Damned frustrating game at the moment.

Shot a whopping 10 over h/cap today... felt like 50 over h/cap, couldn't have hit it any worse if the course was full of cows and I was carrying a bag full of banjos!

Smiffy's course will be well nice in the Summer though... so he says ;)

Betterball comp with Homer for me yesterday. We knobbed our way around to 36pts which was good enough for 8th place out of 37 teams which makes it sound better than it really was. The guys we played with were mystified at just how we scored that many points.

My short game, which has needed work for some time, was my biggest issue and now the sole focus of my practice. One successful scramble from 11 attempts is really not good enough for a 9 handicapper.

Friendly knock on Sunday. Shot 41 for the front 9, and was very happy. Then shot 50 for the back 9 and was not so happy. That said, probably took on some silly shots on the back nine, and then lost concentration for the last 3 holes, which I wouldn't have done in a comp.

The driver isn't behaving and nor is the three wood! :(

Final winter league game which was combined Stableford. My partner couldnt make it so the Pro set me a target not to come last. I came in with 38 points(should of been 40+) and beat two pairs. Happy days

I played ok and partner and I won our match as we played well as a team. Nagging sense of disappointment though as my practice had been so good and it just wasn't up to that on the course. Yet my long game which had been dodgy at best on the range (quack quack) was as good as it's ever been. Think that helped us win as our opponents are very long hitters and some of their advantage was negated and pressure applied. Short game was a bit off too and way too many chips underhit - more the planning than the execution and not playing the conditions - even on the 17th - how long can it take to figure it out Amanda for flips sake??!!

It's our Daily Mail Foursomes match on Friday so hoping the practice before then (on the course) will prove beneficial.

I was laughably bad yesterday! At least I could laugh about it.

Was a lovely morning to be out though. If it was bad weather I would have walked off after 4 holes I think......

Stableford on Saturday and scored a whopping 20 points. The weather was terrible, raining and a constant wind which mean't that by about the 6th hole everything was soaking.
If it wasn't a competition I would have walked in after 9 holes but I persevered and glad I did because I came in with 6 points on the back 9

New clubs or old ones?

Odd game for me yesterday. I thought I was playing well, had 28 putts and 50% up and downs but shot 80. Apart from hitting a few more greens I really don't know where I could have saved any more shots.

4 lost balls, all new, 23 points, tops. Played like a gimp. Even my short game abandoned me. The lesson on thurs was weird, and I'm not sure that it is a direction I want to go in. Got another next thurs, and will decide if I want to go on, or if the experiment is over.

played saturday and sunday rocked in over a 100 both days think sunday was worse.. first qualifying medal is a week on saturday was going to enter but half tempted to steer clear of it like the plague. the course is alot longer off the whites and not sure if i fancy it or not as 3 more .1s my playing handicap becomes 28 :(

my driving has fell apart not to mention my putting being incredibly ropey. 3 and 4 putts galore. Only good thing is im striking mid and short irons nice and pitching well. although did take 3 to get out of a bloomin bunker!!

I thought you posted last week that it was finally getting there and you were happy how you were hitting the ball.

Have you tweaked something else and it's all gone pear shaped again?

First PROPER round Sunday and beat my PB by 4 shots but it should have been so much better so I walked of a little anoyed LOL crazy I know but when u hit drives within 80 yds of 2 consecutive par 4 greens and walk off with a 5 on both its not nice :-(

Not sure either how we managed it apart from perfect teamwork. Hawkeye contributed on 7 out of 9 holes on the way out and yet I scored on 7 out of 9 coming back home including a glorious birdie at the last, set up by Mickleson like hooked 5 wood for my second!

However I played like King of the Knobs in the roll up on Saturday and really couldn't string two shots together. It carried over onto the front nine in the comp but something clicked on the 11th tee and it was much better. Been to the range tonight and the positive trend continues.
