decent courses in the north east ?

been playing just 1 year now, loving it. i'm looking for a nice course in the north east, sunderland/newcastle area. idealy i'm after somewhere with excellent practice facilities, just wondering if anyone on here can help?

Slaley Hall is excellent

Richmond, Darlington both good courses. Richmond (turn off at scotch corner) was reviewed in GM a couple of months back.

Goswick 7 miles south of Berwick upon Tweed is the best in the area by far, would take you no more than an hour from Newcastle and we have excellent practise range.

heard about goswick and plan to play it in the very near future. what i'm really after though is somewhere local to really join. has anyone on here played wearside golf course ? whats the course like? whats the practice facilties like ?
