Right lads and lassies,

I have been happily striking away with a set of Cobra 2300 irons for 2 seasons and was NOT thinking of changing them ..........

until last week when I was in the shop and clapped my eyes on a set of Cobra Forged CB with R400 shafts. They are brand new and for sale at just £250 (cos I know the pro)

I love them, but I need some advice so that I do not act like a wumin and buy them for the hell of it. :D

Whats your thoughts?

£250 sounds like a great deal, do it, you will only regret it when they get sold !.

Imagine if they get sold to the guy who you play in the knockout next season. Imagine him fizzing his approaches pin high evertime and peppering the flag on par 3's . . . .

You'd just be watching thinking, those irons could have been mine !!!

I know that the R in R400 means regular but what does the 400 mean?

400 refers to the shaft weight, r400's are 129 grams whereas r300's are 127 grams. Doesn't sound like much difference to me but whatever floats your boat!

R300 is more the standard weight I think.

Never played 400's except one Nike wedge with an S400 I used to have so I cant really comment. You dont want wedges too waggly though!

It's a bit confusing as an S200 weighs in about the same as an R400 so how do you decide whether you go 'light stiff' or 'heavy regular'??

Help!

Madandra, playing of 10 1/2 do you not think you should be playing with something like RAC LT2's, ive been trying to talk myself into changing from the original LT's to the lt2s myself.
My reasoning is that they are a very good hitters iron, sweet shots feel like they have been hit well, missed shots still travel but again the feedback you get is enough to let you know without being intrusive shot making is great too, the amount of times ive had to slice one out of the trees....id take a quid per time.
Dont let new models fool you into thinking they will turn you into a scratch golfer overnight. Get a hit with them, maybe even try out some of the mizuno range too. Ive tried cobras and I just couldnt justify changing. That said, its what makes you happy thats what really counts!.

I would say that the Cobra 2300 are similar to LT's but I feel like I need a wee change. I aint gonna spend £600+ on irons as I KNOW I will never be off scratch but I just want them.
Looks like your mind is made then :) next dilemma please!
I got my Lts for 2xx last year and cant put them down, I'm even taking my 3
