Got my first round match coming up this week-end.
First round is a 36 holer with the first match being "away" and the second being at home.
I've been drawn to play a 14 handicapper at Avisford Park GC in West Sussex who seems to be having mixed fortunes at the moment, judging by the results sheets.
Subsequent rounds, (should I get through), are 18 holers home or away depending on the draw.
Wish me luck. I will carry the "Ping" flag

Smiffy, have you played Avisford Park? It is attached to a hotel just outside Arundel - I stayed in the hotel for a weekend a couple of years ago and had a walk round the course. To be honest it looked a bit of a goat track with few holes of any real character - and pretty open as well. I reckon a 14 handicapper would struggle at your course in comparison....so no excuses call it a bye...

I keep looking but HID has my credit card under lock and key at the moment as we have some proper household bills that need clearing. Hywel can go to Forest Pines this weekend if he likes but he'll be missing Pyrford.

Smiffy, have you played Avisford Park? To be honest it looked a bit of a goat track with few holes of any real character - and pretty open as well.

I did have a look at the clubs website, and after reading some reviews on the course on UKGolfGuide I had more or less arrived at the same conclusion.
I hope it's not so bad that I lose interest. I hate playing shite courses. If the first round had been at Wellshurst or Lydd I think I would have conceded the match!
Hopefully, if I get through, I will get the chance to play some better ones at a reduced green fee. but I've got to get through first.

Thanks Smiffy but got it the first time. He's being confusing the Pyrford and Forest Pines dates for ages. I've never played Pyrford but seen a course planner and playing with a member whos told me all about it. Water water everywhere
