After your initial fitting once you got and collect them should they be checked?

The reason I ask is that after fitting on Saturday at AG, which was a very nice experience, I arrived to pick said clubs up to be passed 7 clubs loose with no extra fitting or practice offered.

I would have thought they would have at least got you to set up with one so they could make a visual check. And then told you to come back after half a dozen rounds so the lies could be checked out.

Seems commonsense to me - but then as we know commonsense aint all that common!

I ask because they basically through the clubs at me when picking them up, they recommended 2 tapes on the grip and to be honest my fingers are still digging into my palm?? :D

Is this normal as the guy who fit me said my fingers shouldnt touch my palm when gripping the club?

it should only just touch it but not be any pressure, if that makes sense.

Did they stick the tape on for you?

YES. Proper fitting actually includes measurements of the hand, fingers and palm. I suspect the salesman juts looks at your fingers wrapped around the club handle?

I was the same at AG, picked them up and then left the shop. Started to strike out of the toe and went back for a checkup which showed initial fit was right. Also had a check at Direct Golf as well that showed custom fit was right, just my swing that was wrong.

I also have slightly thicker grips on my clubs so my fingers don't reach the palms.

I think they should custom fit your first couple of swings as when you play golf you don't hit the same club ball after ball and get into a rhythm

I went to titleist. Aside from the shafts, lofts and lies they also fitted the grips. Now, I have also been told thet the fingers shouldn't dig into the palms, so I tried standard, one layer of tape, two layers, three layers, four layes, and in every case my fingers still dug into my palms. Blimey, thinks me, how thick do grips need to be.

However, three layers of tape, I hit the ball straight, four layers I block every thing right. Still feels wrong, but three layers it is.

When I got fitted for my Ping i3's years ago they reckoned I needed midsize grips. They never felt right and I honestly feel I never played well with that set as a result. Since gone back to standard and everythings ok.

Thicker grips weren't recommended, as being thicker rubber apparently makes them a bit 'squirmy'. Better off with lots of tape.
