Right, Im really thinking about college now not knowing what to do normal college or golf college.

1st option

Winstanley college and study business and accountancy.

2nd option

Myerscough golf college.

I dont know if at the golf college you can study other things or what?

And what jobs I can do after golf college and are they good pay?

Anything atall ???? :D

Id say normal college because

1. Theres not many jobs available after golf college
2. Most of them would go to top class golfers with low handicaps.

There is a golf college near me which i want to go to when i am 16, but my parents say it is not right for me. As they say you only need a couple of C's(GCSE). So, i'm guessing its better to go to normal college. However i would guess that you need to be quite a good h/c?

The one i was looking at gives you 16hours of golf training a week and whatever you are taking academically. There current students handicaps range from 1-9. Any help?

I'm pretty sure in saying most golf colleges won't touch players unless they are single figures and usually with a decent academic background.

What are you looking to get out of a golf college. If you are looking to turn pro, then I think this is wildly optimistic. If you are looking for a career in greenkepping or similar you will probably need some sort of day release to an agricultural college.

I have to say Mono from 17 to single figure by September is a pipe dream, especially as you'll be expected to stay at single figures. Not sure any college will offer courses in caddying. There have been other posts giving you the benefit of the forums advice on how to start in that field. To be fair I'm not sure you'll how much aptitude to coaching you'll have purely because you don't play at a high enough level or have displayed any insight into the swing mechanics on here (unless you have been hiding your talents).

Its not mono bashing before anyone gets on that particular high horse but a realistic appraisal as I see it and having worked as an assistant pro and at least dabbled in golf as a living.

Mono

I've tried to leave this a little while and contemplate but the cynic in me thinks this is just daydream post that is never going to be a reality. As far as I can see your 16 or so now and to be honest if you are still off 17 at what you consider to be an unchallenging course and don't mix with the big boys in your age group in open events you are not going to be good enough. Bottom line.

If you want a job in golf the only realistic route I can see is getting a retail job in somewhere like American Golf.

I don't actually think you realistically intend going to golf college. An academic college I can understand and would support your decision as it is important in the current climate to be as equipped to come to marketplace as possible. Even if you were going to go to golf college I just have a feeling it is this weeks flavour of the month and in a few months you will have posted another career decision.

Sorry if it seems blunt but I'm only being honest as I see it.

Your desperate to drive Mono away from here for good aren't you? He can't say \ do a thing without you critising his every move.

Give him a break.

I'm only being realistic. I know from my own experiences at that age that most 16 year olds off a comparitive handicap just don't have the capability of getting down to low enough figures (and staying there). Just trying to point that out and explain that is seems a strange post when he can't master his own course. Not trying to drive anyone away but just giving an opinion.

Anyway off to bed now as I've a 2.00am alarm call for the longest day challenge so you can argue the rights and wrongs of his dream without me.

Dont mix with the big boys?

I have been in 1 open comp this year and won it. Southport muni.

I say if its what you want to do and you have the chance they go for it with everything you've got and don't listen to any one who says its too late, your only 15 for christ' sake.

If you don't go for it now you will never know, and you will regret not trying.

Not wishing to upset anyone here, but as I see it Homer has been good for Mono. In the short time I've been on here it's clear to see that Homer always gives good and fair advice to Mono. In fact he is one of the few on here to answer most of Monos questions. I have to say some of his posts are strange at times but I'm sure accepted because of his exuberance of youth, and I'm sure Homer recognises that.

Also I'll bet that Homer has a kind of, "affection" for Mono, so I'm sure he's not trying to drive him away.

Golfmmad.

I take it from your first post that the idea of golf college is just a whim at this stage. It appears you haven't really researched at the moment, hence the statement "I dont know if at the golf college you can study other things or what?"

Good to see you are considering further education, but if you're considering golf colege, I would seriously consider finding out a bit more about what is involved before committing. Wouldn't wish to see you making a bad future career move fella.
