Christmas Dinner??

We usually go to a local restaurant for our Christmas dinner but I forgot to book it and its fully booked now.

I don't like turkey so I will be cooking something different, I've been thinking of doing a nice beef Wellington or a boned and rolled leg of Welsh lamb.

There's only me and my tart and the 2 kids.

What does your Christmas dinner consist of?

Me & HID will quickly show our faces at both sets of parents then get back home to relax.

Dinner will consist of a Chicken, small joint of Beef & Leg of Lamb with Roasties, Mash, Swede, Sprouts, Parsnips, Cabbage, Colly and lashings of thick gravy with the juices from the meat in. Cranberry & English Mustard is a must also.

Left overs from first innings will go into the slow cooker for a curry.

Hmmmm, I'm starvin' now....

crown of turkey this year, just my wife and myself, maybe a beer, although I don't drink very often in the house. It's just another day in my household

Sausage rolls on the deck with port to kick off, then cold buffet . Some of our own cold beef, salmon, ham, chicken and selection of seasonal veggies, salad. Christmas pud then home made cheese and choccies. All washed down with some of NZ's finest Sav Blanc.
Will be our last warm Xmas and not one of them have we felt really christmassy .

Go for goose. I thought I ordered a turkey from the local farm shop a couple of years ago. Then when I turned up on Christmas eve I found out I had ticked the goose box instead. But after a bit of last minute googling I found a Gordon Ramsey recipe for goose. http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2428/gordons-christmas-roast-goose-

And it was lovely, much much tastier than turkey. There's not as much meat on a goose, but the flavour is so much better.

Mahooooosive big family day , parents & brother in law will stay down on christmas eve , big brekkie around 8 after santy toys have been sorted ..
my brother his mrs & kids (18 & 20) will be over for an hour r so , dinner will be cooking away , my mam , dad , & bro will be up for dinner as will our nextdoor neighbour who lives alone , then the craziness of dishing it out eating it up & the washing up , the buzz of chat & laughter around the table is savage

Going to the outlaws for Xmas day with the kids for a uber roast turkey dinner fest! Then repeat the next day at my sisters. Then repeat again the day after at more outlaws! <BURP>

As for our festive dinner it's a mahoosive turkey, a goose crown with all the veg we could eat in a week plus sausages, stuffing and all the condiments on the planet. Followed by christmas pudd with a silver six pence in it and a trifle. Then cheese and biscuits with pished coffees.
The mother in law is coming down this year for THREE weeks and I'm paying for her flights!
HID owes me big time.
