So who is in charge of the cooking of it in your house and what are you having? As an ex chef, i am well and truly in charge in our house. We have 16 people for dinner this year!!

I will start the prep tomorrow! Whats on your menu and what are you doing in advance?

For me, we are having:

Turkey - Will cook on Saturday
Gravy - Will cook on Saturday
Pigs in blankets - on the day
Roast spuds - on the day
Roast parsnips - on the day
Braised red cabbage - Will cook on Friday
Glazed carrots - May prep sat
Brussels - Will cook on saturday, finish on the day in wok
Broccoli - on the day
Fresh Stuffing - Cooked last week, in the freezer
Bread sauce - Cooked last week, in the freezer
Cranberry sauce - Cooked last week, in the freezer

my mum is in charge of pudding, so thats sorted. Booze bought and ready, kids all have their jobs ready to go! (cutlery, plates, crackers, glasses etc)

Can you tell i have slight OCD when it comes to cooking/entertaining??!

So whats on your menu or do you not know until its dished up to you??!!

Going to the SIL. She wont let anyone help, it will be served late. I will eat before I go so that I don't get irritated and hungry, been there before. I have no say, tried and been ignored, but I get to make a financial contribution for a significant amount of food and drink that I wont eat or drink. Bah humbug. I keep asking to have Christmas at our own house and I'll do it. One year, one year..............Oh yes, it will be turkey even though if you ask someone to rank turkey in their list of favourite meats it will come bottom every time. Ah, bah humbug again.

Last year it was pizza or macaroni cheese with the turkey dinner done Boxing Day. This year it's a catered chalet in Tignes so they'll be cooking for us.

I always used to cook the Xmas dinner but found that I was spending most of Xmas Day in the kitchen instead of with the kids. We've decided that from now on we'll have the turkey either on Xmas Eve or Boxing Day and then all of Xmas Day can be about time with the kids opening presents and playing games.

Bootle of Dom Perignon for breakfast
Seafood to start, with a nice Berry Bros Puligny Montrachet
Roast Beef for the main (fillet & a 2 rib of beef) with a couple of bottles 1997 Gruaud Larosse
Xmas pud with some Dominican rum

Fall asleep

As you can tell I enjoy enjoying Christmas and always splash out on a few nice bottles.
I will do most of the cooking, with some assistance from my Mum for starters and Pud and my Dad for the main course. My Sister can do the pots afterwards while I "rest".

Lots of us don't have family outwith spouses here, so a dozen or so of us are getting together and everyone will bring an 'ingredient' or course for lunch/dinner (I think we're in charge of roast tatties)

There wont be turkey (dodo is much tastier)

I do the cooking in my house on Christmas Day, about 10 of us this year I think.

All cooked on the day, all veg etc prepped on Saturday evening though so less time in the kitchen and more with the kids on the day :)

Don't have Turkey as I don't like it (have a Capon instead, much tastier IMO). Roast spuds, roast parsnips glazed with soy sauce, honey and maple syrup, pigs in blankets, sprouts with butter and parma ham, glazed carrots, stuffing and gravy. Trifle and Christmas Pud for afters with copious amounts of different alcohol before, during and after. My favourite meal of the year, can taste it already!!

Yes! That's us coming to your gaff next year! Thats my kind of day!!

We have the first 5 on the list plus Brussels, all done on the day. Smoked salmon breakfast with apple juice. G&T before lunch. Orvieto Classico with the main meal, and a glass of whisky with the cheeses afterwards.

Then sleep as the Queen comes on for her little chat.

Although herself is quite happy to let me cook at any other time of the year Xmas day is a no no... I apparently phaff around too much... So, she'll be in charge, on the day, and we are giving turkey its turn this year with all the usual trimmings...

I started making the Xmas cake back in September and with regular topping ups of alcohol since, should be quite potent come the day of eating... Also, have done plenty of mince pies and I'll be doing the boxing day trifle... Time allowing will also do another yule log for home having done one for work...

I do the cooking most of the time at our gaff, so Christmas is no different.

Starter is scallops with chorizo and a pea/mint puree, puree is made the day before so takes about 5 mins on the day

Main this year is beef wellington, prep done the day before so just pastry and 40 mins in the oven on sunday, accompanied by roasties (on the day) braised red cabbage (day before), cauliflower cheese (on the day), yorkshire puds (on the day) and a beautiful red win gravy (day before)

Dessert will be chocolate cheesecake made on saturday with fresh raspberries and cream or custard.

Lots of red wine, some port with cheese at some point during the day, and a nap around the time her maj comes on the telly box

Turkey and usual trimmings. My favourite Aunt (Bessie) always comes round to help.

Chocolate pud and caramel ice cream for afters - the best bit!

for the first time in years we ,[mrs Radd and me ]are having crimbo num nums at my sons new house ,he moved in two weeks ago and wants to have mum and dad round for dinner, no turkey involved or sprouts [thank god]its lamb and pork with all the trimmings .
mrs Radd is looking forward to not having to cook for every other bugger that always seemed to end up at our place for xmas dinner.

I'm the family chef, the Mrs helps with a bit of veg prep and keeps me topped up with gin.

Lunch:
Starter - Trout, smoked in Arbroath, simply served on buttered brown bread with black pepper and lemon.
Main - Roast turkey with braised red cabbage, sprouts, pigs in blankets, roasties and a lovely lovely gravy (proud of my gravy skills). Always cook extra sprouts and tatties ahead for a boxing day bubble and squeak breakfast too.
Dessert - Chocolate fondants

Dinner:
Cheese, Biscuits & Port

Flipping love Christmas dinner I do. :D

Jamies Christmas Dinner. It's awesome. The Turkey is beautiful EVERY year and all gone by the end of the day! The entire meal is delicious. Unfortunately the creamy beans have had to be dropped to accommodate all Jamies veg but they appear on New Years Day. Wifey does all the prep the day before with help (hinderance) from me plus grandsons to do pigs on blankets. My mouths watering.
