Cheetah Woods

Just out of interest, why did you decide to take up golf? Just because, or did a certain player inspire you? If so, who?

Seve when I met him at the 1984 Benson & Hedges at Fulford, I also met all the stars and got their names signed in my program.

I think Happy Gilmore has got more people into golf than Tiger ;)

He's mechanical & miserable, but certainly not exciting.

The only exciting thing that Woods was involved in is that he was present when YE Yang showed him his @rse to beat him.

Now that was sweet.

It just shows you...if it was not against Tiger, would it have been as sweet? I'll tell you....no. Tiger is needed, if just for the Ye Yang factor. Am I righ or am I right. :D

So it's not just TW who inspires people to take up the game. Another era, another year, another "role model".

Errrr yeah. Tiger was a cub back then - I'd never heard of him.
Tiger's been at the top for years now - he has to have inspired people. But where is the next role model coming from? They're all identikit alike these days. With all due respect to guys like Oliver Wilson - who has said " Wow I saw Ollie Wilson play golf the other day - I'm gonna be like him one day!"???

And isn't this whole discussion about Tiger's private life??

If it isn't please enlighten me as to what the subject matter is?

You don't think that this whole affair with the slappers is good for golf then? Kids probably think golf is a bit of a nerdy thing to do, but along comes Tiger, and golf becomes sexy. All the money, unlimited babes. If that doesn't get kids into the sport, nothing will.

Having read this, I wonder if the entry requirements for Goswick Golf Club include some form of bizarre initiation ritual based on the worship of Mr Woods? I would find it entirely plausible that it involves standing in the darkened club function room on a pentacle based on the TW logo, surrounded by the committee members clad in hooded Nike cloaks.

As the incantations build in volume - "Tiger, Tiger, Tiger..... - the prospective member proves his worth by spitting into the centre of the pentacle, hurling a club through the closest window and then affects the traditional Tiger expression, i.e. looking like you are permanently on the verge of tears. :(

The committee then roar their approval and the ceremonial cocktail waitress rubber doll is inflated for the finale.......................... :o :p

:D :D :D :D :D

I can't believe some of you lot.
Tiger is a sportsman, not a presidential candidate.
I couldn't give a monkeys what he does off the course.
Ok, he's had extra maritals and got rumbled, feels guilty and decided to take some time out. Who am i or anyone else to comment.
I for one can't wait to see him back on the first Tee of a tournament again.
Hopefully he'll be back soon.

You are obviously wanting to join....I'll propose you and I'm sure screwback will second you. ;)

Fore hits the nail on the head as does Murph...

LMAO :D

As I've said before in other threads, I want to see how good Woods is when the grooves change. His shot to the 72nd green in the 2008 US Open certainly wouldn't have finished where it did and consequently probably wouldn't have made the playoff. If he can still do it with being properly punished for missing a fairway then I'll doff my cap.

I certainly worship the guy for his golfing ability

OK he can perform at the highest levels of his chosen sport. But he is not a god.

He may well have inspired many people to take up golf (as have many, many golfers before him) but from what I have seen on the courses I play, many of these newer players will often copy TW's antics i.e. gobbing, throwing clubs, taking divots out of the greens in "frustration", etc. If Tiger does it, it must be OK.

Are you one of these "newer" players perchance?

To my mind, in a few years time when all the fall out from his on-course behaviour and the current speculation has run it's course, TW may well not be viewed as the greatest thing ever to have happened to golf.

If you choose to worship him then that's up to you but I would suggest that you re-evaluate your posts and those of other more reasoned respondents on this thread, and then possibly re-evaluate your life :D :D

I am not one of these new players i happen to believe in the traditions of the game and play it to a reasonable standard.

I also like tiger because i know a good golfer when i see one obviously you dont

I was brought into the game firstly on mercurial majesty of Seve and then became a Faldo fan for his sheer determination that what he was doing was right to him and his 2 finger approach to his doubters. The fact that he swung the club superbly and went on to claim majors jst made it sweeter

As you obviously can't be bothered to properly read what is posted, the first line of my previous post.......
