Been out this weekend with Missis Tash and the grand sproggs. I have lost count the amount of times I have seen cash only, or sorry card only. Why?
In this day and age when business and small shops are struggling for business why are they not cash and card.I don’t understand it.
Is there a reason why shops are card only or cash only.

Cash only, hiding money from the taxman

Card only, the till always tallies up, no bank charges relating to paying in cash (although there are card charges), no need to travel to a bank to pay in cash, (where is your nearest branch?), no need to spend time counting up at the end of the night, no risk of theft either accidental or deliberate and dangerous.

It should be law to offer both IMO. Sadly the government is more than happy to steer everything cashless.

Too many cash only places are that for tax avoidance reasons.

I still use both but it's a pain to use cash in various places and if you pay for items over £250 in cash it now raises eyebrows. Good luck trying to take £10k plus out of your bank without needing 2-3 days notice and a valid reason which will be kept on record.

Tax dodging... And avoiding any charges they need to pay for folk using cards..

Ah the 3 monthly cash Vs card thread is back . Excellent 👌

Contactless on phone. No need for cash in the main.

Breakfast at work today everyone transferred me via their banks

I can remember having to give 2 days notice to withdraw 5k and that was about 30 years ago. It's not really a new thing.

Search bar showed no cash v card threads 👌

Even includes a handy poll

Card, phone etc etc is fine until, as in Halfords the other day, the Internet connection goes bust and the card reader doesn't work..
Cash only then......

Click and collect. You'd be able to do it in the store

I think all their systems were down not just their banking system. Apparently they could have done my MOT but all 'long hand' paperwork taking two or three times longer.

For business it must be cheaper, Insurance wise, if no cash is accepted.

A group from our golf Club are going out for lunch this week where the restaurant states no cash. The organiser knows the guys and asks cash or card. Quick reply was cash.

Perhaps I am suspicious but it does not seem right. Incidentally it would be a lot worse IF it was the caterer at our Golf Club. I would the feel the cash is going in his pocket to the detriment of The Club and ultimately the members.
