I am not one to stomp my feet about these things but I have started to notice that the level of swearing in posts is creeping up. I know it may be words that are not offensive to you but this is an open forum used by people of all ages and that has to be taken into account. I just spent 20 minutes taking the swear words out of the 'Winter Yardages' thread.

Just thought that this was worth metioning as it is a right pain of a job taking swear words out, especially when they are used in quotes throughout the thread.

AHh I hadn't read that thread yet and you've taken the best bits out.

Only joking.

GB, if any of my posts contained unsuitable launguage please accept my appologies. i tend to start out certain letters so it doent read as badly...

for what its worth, depending on your forum software, there is a add on which you can add sensitive words to and it will blank them instantly or replace them for more suitable words, example b****X to botox... and such like ;)

If you read the rules by Mike it states that x'd out or purposely hidden/changed letters and words are still not acceptable.

without a doubt chris, 2 other forums i use for different hobbies are publication owned and run, and none of them offer anything for the members & posters.. so hats off to GM for the oppertunities they offer to forumers...

Some of the prizes run into big money here, on their sites not even so much as a bottle of bike cleaner at £5.00

i think one of my posts contained unsuitable language....

i apologise.

i think the forum is quite good and the fact that it is free then sticking to the rules is a small price to pay for the facility we have here so i'll keep it squeeky clean from now on.

Why don't you Mods make life easier for yourselves?

Just edit out all of the offending post with the comment of "content deleted due to unsuitable language" or something similar. No-one likes to spend several minutes composing a post only to have it deleted. They won't do it more than once or twice.

GB72 are you on a wind up?

Persistent swearing I agree with, though I've not noticed much of it have you got nothing else to moan about?

Pathetic.

And before anybody starts with the IPC media excuse, I'm sure a few swear words won't harm any multi million pound company wanting to invest/sponsor/promote their business through this site.

Could we not have "watershed" time for bad language or even an "over 18" section ;)

This is a public forum hosted on the Internet, how do you propose you enforce a watershed?

If folk can't write a post without swearing then it's a sad day for society. I know I have been guilty in the past of x'ing out or jumbling letters but there are other more elequent ways of writing and it isn't a lot to ask.

GB72, whether this is a wind up or not, I couldn't agree more. There are plenty of humourous comments in here that don't contain swear words. Simply, there's no need for it. This is a forum with a bit of class. Let's keep it that way
