Can of worms!!! Denim!!!!!!

Well. I must admit that I am VERY surprised that you are able to draw any conclusions from the responses so far. As to stating that "well over 50% of club huses are now letting it in" (I assume you mean denim), I would suggest that you are talking out of that builder's crack visible with your low slung jeans.

In all my years of golf I have NEVER been to a club that allowed denim or jeans in the clubhouse and even if I was visiting one where it was allowed, I would not even consider wearing them.

If you had said that you were carrying out a survey instead of being devious you may have got a more balanced view. I really can't be bothered to go through the postings again to see how many forumers were pro your proposition but it was probably about (say) 10 or 15. That's out of over 900 members. So far probably no more that 2% have responded favourably.

Manipulating questions and response data like this, you must be an advisor to that nice Mr Brown or Livingstone.

Conor

You really are an arrogant little waste of air. Most of the regualars will know I am one of the most placid members on here when it comes to getting wound up. Congratulations you have succeeded.

In that little bubble you exist in you may not be aware that this a forum which in simple terms means contributors are able to post THEIR opinions on a topic or take it off on a slightly different tangent if they so wish.

We have already had the club membership vs municipal golfer topic. In case you missed it I mentioned that although I am a proud club member I have no issue with those who like to play as nomadic golfers utilising pay and play facilities as and when they wanted to play.

I have nothing against municipal courses. I have one close by which was voted in the top 10 pay and plays. What I object to is the fact that some (not all) do not monitor the golfers they are allowing on and as such you get a minority who dress and act inappropriately and spoil it.

So Mr Conor get used to the fact that not everyone will agree with you. If you cannot face people changing the topic as it develops and that people will not agree with you do us all a favour and p**s off.

You really are an ignorant small minded tosser

Very Funny Leftie but let me tell you there was nothing ever devious about this you are taking it all a bit far.My last post was to thank both sides if you cant see that well then your issue it was a big thank you to every one.

so get over yourself dont make me start on why left handed players should all be banned!!!!!!(joking have a nice day and dont look to deep into things chill out pal) :D

seconded.

That's the last bit of constructive input you'll get out of me on anything.

Take it you're not going to print your name and the club you belong to so that we can mail our comments to your club secretary eh?

As for all these clubs that let you wear jeans- ive never seen them. Having said that if you've conducted the same in depth research as youve done here then going to two clubs five minutes apart where one does and one doesn't is indeed 50%.

They must have let you in to make up the d**khead quota.

Now now MR Homer to think i even thanked you for your input and got the spelling of your name right.

And less of the name calling im not even going to sink to your level.

Here is my tupence worth.

I think its awful seeing people wearing jeans on my home course (which is municipal). I spend extra cash to look the part on the course, why should someone who can not even be bothered to think about trying to fit in, be allowed to play?

In regards to wearing jeans in the club house, I can understand both sides of the debate as I would like to pop to the club for a few pints during the week in my jeans, but and a big BUT do you not think that turning up in jeans at anytime turns the "Club" into a "Pub"?

Lets get this sorted this was always going to cause ill feeling but i am aloud to have my thoughts and just because i dont agree with yours some sink very low to name calling. This site is about debate see my other post (My Thoughts on what you must have before you can play a course. ) for the good of the coures.

you few who think you can start slagging others off just cos you dont like what they think want to be very carefull.

You wanna call me names please send me a private mesg and ill be happy to call/meet anyone of you!

At my fathers course (Aldeburgh) which is very traditional you are allowed to wear denim on the course. It's one of the oldest clubs in the country and it makes not a jot of difference.

In the clubhouse however you have to wear trousers and a shirt tie and jacket in some areas of the clubhouse.

That said, i haven't seen one fight break out on the course ever!!!! ;)

Thanks Bunker it seems i am the bad ass member on here at the mo for even fetching the issue up.
but its replys like yours that make it worth while its all about seeing what happens at other clubs not calling people names.

And like wise there is also a lot who agree with me thats a debate but you take it to another level by mugging me off and in my book thats out of order.

Strong debate is good but no personal attacks or aggressive wording please.

If people are meeting face to face, which is happening via this forum nowadays, then it is bad to have fallen out before you've even met! Written words can very easily be misconstrued, what seems funny to one can be offensive to another.
I was guilty of adding to a few ding-dongs on here in the past but after meeting other forumers at St Andrews last month it's clearly way better to watch the wording of posts so folks get along or at least don't hate eachother if and when they meet!

Tolerance please gentlemen (& ladies?)!

I suggest this thread stops here, some want jeans, some don't.....agree to disagree.

Lets get this sorted this was always going to cause ill feeling

you got that bit right. It's what happens when you've tried to pull the wool over peoples eyes. Guessing your not too bright as you could have just kept it to yourself and moved on but youve managed to step on your own landmine- doh

but i am aloud to have my thoughts and just because i dont agree with yours some sink very low to name calling.

Well lets call it quits then. You must be allowed to disgree and to do so
aloud if you wish so. In exchange others can speculate as to the nature of your membership- the decision to pick up on it is your choice. That's another landmine youve stepped on- BOOM.

This site is about debate see my other post (My Thoughts on what you must have before you can play a course. ) for the good of the coures.

It is about debate. Honest and open debate not pooling opinion by deception.

you few who think you can start slagging others off just cos you dont like what they think want to be very carefull.

so do you pal. threats are a serious business. youve just implicated yourself on a public worldwide network. follow that up with action and there's a paper trail leading all the way back here and thousands of witnesses.

(oh and that goes for private messages too- logged, dated, trailed, published)

You're clearly not the sharpest tool in the box so think very carefully. This isn't your local spit n' sawdust boozer int' Filey.

You wanna call me names please send me a private mesg and ill be happy to call/meet anyone of you!

Where do we sign up? well recognise you as the gimp in the jeans with a baseball bat.

Do the world of golf and anyone that likes the trappings of the sport a favour and take up la cross instead.

Sorry BM I know you wanted to end it here but my view is this;

Why wear jeans when a nice pair of slacks or chinos are much more comfortable? The only time I wear jeans is at work as they are afterall, workwear.

The club I have joined forbids all jeans in all areas and I am glad of it.

Although this thread now appears to be drawing to a close i’d still like to chuck in my two penneth.

I’ve played golf for the best part of 18 years now and have always been brought up to respect the game, and it’s traditions. The club I currently play at has a very strict ‘no jeans’ policy when playing on the course and I don’t have a problem with that whatsoever. The main members bar again has a similar ‘smart’ dress code policy and our separate players bar has a much more relaxed dress code where jeans are permitted. This to me is the perfect compromise as you have a choice.

Getting into my golfing attire ready for the Saturday medal is all part of my pre golfing routine. To me trying to play golf seriously when wearing jeans just doesn’t feel right whatsoever. It’s like playing cricket in black trainers, or playing hockey without shin pads. It’s just not right !!!!

Sorry about that folks, just had to get it off my chest.

DHM.

All i can say to you Billyg is well well out of order.Picking on spelling and calling names again and going on about me pulling the wool over your eyes if that was the case why has no one else got that in there head.

I wanted to find out what people thought on the issue i did that i thanked every one and i mean every one and you start getting personal to which i asked if you want to take that route please contact me on that level ie personal.

you get that or was my spelling to bad.

As a sad old git, I remember in my last job before retirement there was this bright young thing who was urging me to get into jeans with the 'right' label and t-shirts with an appropriate slogan emblazoned across them. I did not understand the attraction then and still do not.
I have never owned a pair of jeans and never will.
I just wish I could find golf clothing that did not advertise the manufacturers of golf gear.

Gaining honest opinion by deception is well out of order

Threatening people is well out of order

Abusing the goodwill of forum members who contribute their opinions off their own back and for no gain is well out of order.

You set the tone of the latter part of this exchange by doing so and you're reaping what you sow .

You remain- well out of order.

As ive said earlier - you'll not get another bit of input from me on any thread you start unless you are willing to apologise to the forum publically for disception.

I'm sure that's something you can easily live with. I can live with it easily. The rest of the forum can make thier own minds up.

Your threats are on record

Right then billyg if anyone on here thinks i have tried to pool the wool over there eyes then i have no issue what so ever with saying SORRY that was never my intension so again SORRY.

But as for threats please show me where you think i have done this and if you were a real man i am sure you would have no issue with saying sorry for picking up on spelling.
