Can of worms!!! Denim!!!!!!

Right then billyg if anyone on here thinks i have tried to pool the wool over there eyes then i have no issue what so ever with saying SORRY that was never my intension so again SORRY.

But as for threats please show me where you think i have done this and if you were a real man i am sure you would have no issue with saying sorry for picking up on spelling.

At last. Some sense. I do indeed apologise for picking up on your spelling.

Now go and buy some blinkin' trousers and get the beers in :D

Peace has broken out again

My club allowed denim in the clubhouse for a trial period a number of years ago. At the end of the trial it was found that bar takings had gone up. I like others have gone for a drink later in the evenings, previously i just had beer in the house as i could not be bothered getting changed.

It was also noted that behaviour standards had not got worse during the trial (maybe because clubchamp is not a member   :D)

Billyg

why is it you always feel the need to think your better than everyone?

This thread has decended into a farce. If you cant respect each others decisions I without resorting to school playground antics I suggest you dont post.

Billyg. I won't now comment the main theme of your post as I think that the subject is now closed and hopefully we are all friends again. :) :)

I must however take issue with you on the closing line. It's spelt Lacrosse not "la cross". (Sorry, just had to get that in :p. It's a great sport and a man's game. I played it for about 20 years until the tired body could take no more punishment.

A club is a democracy, where everyone is equal and having equal powers in it. I'm pretty sure that not everyone likes having Labour in charge of our country, but that's what happens in a democracy. Not everyone is pleased with the result, but as long as the majority do then that's what it's all about.
If you want to wear denims in your club but are not allowed, you're going to have to try and force a vote at the agm.If the result is not in your favour, then you're going to have to accept the result as the majority did not agree with you. If you can't get over your disappointment at not being able to wear your jeans, then I'm afraid you'll have to join another club which will allow.
I thinks that's it in a nutshell.
I have no idea if jeans are allowed at my club as it happens because I'm only at my club after I play so I always have trousers on.
Like someone stated earlier, I would just outlaw scruffiness and since that description is very subjective, you have to have a blanket ban on the most common cause of scruffiness......Denim. Sorry.

Yes, I am aware that you can be scruffy in trousers.

"No riff raff." Basil fawlty.

The only game I thought of while reading this thread is:-

In my opinion, the problem with allowing smart denim is that the rule then becomes subjective and difficult to enforce. I am one of those people who looks scruffy in whatever I wear, have tried to change but not much works. On that basis, I could be refused entry wearing the same as someone else because I do not look smart. 'Smart' always will be a subjective term and not something that you can easily base a rule on. It is easier to apply such a rule in pubs and clubs because you often have a member of staff employed to check this on entry and it is only their opinion that counts. Furthermore, the rule is, more often than not, used to control the the type of person that is allowed to enter a pub and club rather than just a general rule to ensure all clientelle are smart. I am in no way suggesting that there is anything wrong with denim wearers more that the pub/club can use that as a reason not to admit anyone they see as undesireable.

Anyway, it is not simply a golf club issue. When I finished playing rugby, both teams would always dress in trousers, shirt and tie. It was part of the tradition and made you feel a part of the something. I had no problem with the rule then and have no problem with it now.

This may shock you but i agree take it to the AGM if the rule can be changed then good if it cant then so be it.

MikeH is NOT the moderator of this forum, I am sure he is busy enough without having to worry about censoring this forum.

If anybody has an issue with anything on here contact the moderator rather than harassing Mike.
