CaddyAid or CaddyCon?

Be interesting to see how your sonnocaddie and my Skycaddie get along at the Belfry Dave.

I would get onto them and complain after checking. Check the small print first to make sure you aren't missing something and see what they say. Tell them you are going to citizens advice but also say you are writing to various golf magazines to highlight the problem. If they think GM, todays golfer etc are going to pick up on it they may try and avoid bad publicity.

If you get a new GPS my vote is still for SC but if I was still in the market I would seriously look at sonocaddie

Cheers Beaker. May well look further into that, as the e-mail offer is heading down to what I think it should be, though doubt it'll come down any further.

For simplicity & ease of use Skycaddy still wins out.

I've just re-registered for the Mobile version of caddyaid & the free download has just landed on the phone got the free downloaded first 3 holes of a local course. No map but even from where I am now its giving me a yardage to loads of stuff...lol

The G300 shotmiser is good, you can get stats and sat nav aswell as watch movies if the course is slow ;) or listen to music.

Okay, okay, okay....lol :D I'm generally sold. Just need to know its already covering most the courses I want in highest form of detail they offer. :D

The caddy aid website also says that there device is accurate to "A blade of grass" - Not even a GPS device that cost thousands could get it that accurate!

Let us know how you get on and if they come back with a response to your email, will make interesting reading!! :D

Just spoken to CaddyAid, and aparently Google Earth must have bought the maps from the same company that Caddy Aid use. Is this possible....?

Don't know about that but then their claim about Google Earth's inaccuracy applies to them also?

Just done a comparison where I tried to get Google Earth resolution similar to CaddyAid's own blurb. So very different. The Google one is of my local course - recent photo (only changed by Google a couple of months ago)

If their statement to you is right then I reckon their advertising is wrong!

It looks as though I'm going to have to bite the bullet and accept defeat. This could be near imposible to prove one way or the other.

I think on relection, that you have been caught by the differing status of Google photography (think it is by Bluesky)
The attached shows areas which have the latest photography - see just south of Coventry and north of Derby which has much greater detail than your area.

I still think that Trading Standards would be interested though.

Twiregolf

So is the image that's here like the one on your device? Left or right? I'd be interested in knowing.

I would say its in between the 2

If you look up Budleigh Salterton on google maps you'll see the golf club, zoom in on it and thats pretty much the same quality as I get on the PDA

I think I alluded to this in previous posts.

You must have a good case here as in their blurb they slag off Google Earth accurace but use the same photos to extol their own accuracy. Pehaps Google Earth, Infoterra and Bluesky might be interested in Caddie Aid's comments....

I've had no response yet Twire but you seem to have got the info out of them.

Yes cheers Leftie,

I got fed up waiting for my email reply, so I phoned them. there excuse for no answer, is that they have a backlog of emails. Nice to see someones that busy in this climate.

Probably all e-mails of complaint... :o

All in all I feel this is a very disapointing result for something that should be excelent in theory.

Essentially CaddyAid have two choices, sort out the issues or end up being liable... simple as that.
