Budget Airlines!

I have used EasyJet for the last two trips to Spain and they were very good. Comfortable, and bang on time. Jet2.com very good also. I would never ever fly RyanAir.

Anything less than about 5 hours and I will always fly budget where possible. There is no problem as long as your expectations are that it is more like a coach trip than anything else. All I need is a seat on the plane anyway, I don't need feeding, I can take a bottle of water and as long as I have my tablet for music and something to read then I am happy. They are quick and efficient as they need to be so no hanging around at check in or boarding and they have you and your luggage off in no time.

Budget airlines have opened travel up to loads of people who could not afford to fly when National Carriers held a monopoly so good on them.

After only one experience of a budget airline I can safely say I would rather stay at home than repeat the experience, The only thing worse was flying with Virgin Atlantic.

Hand on heart , ive flown Ryanair numerous times . never had a problem ..

stick to their rules not what you think their rules should be and it does exactly what it says on the tin.. its a no frills airline .. but it delivers what they say they will ..

We have a joke over here why its so cheap to fly to GB with Ryanair tho ,
You walk 1/3 of the way (to the gates)
You taxi 1/3 of the way
You fly 1/3 of the way

As a frequent flyer can I say that easyjet are not that bad, 1 use your smartphone for a boarding pass,2 you can always get one at the airport and they don't charge you, well not in Edinburgh or Bristol.
BA now charges for luggage as well, and you can print your boarding pass with them as you can with most major airlines

Not strictly true, BA now offer a hand luggage only fare which is normally £10 a leg less than a normal with luggage fare.

I've never had a problem with Easyjet.

The last time I flew BA I had to print my boarding passes out in the airport before checking in - it was much quicker and no hassle at all.

Using Easyjet to fly out to Belfast (first time flying with them) in May for a mates wedding. Just need to find an ok (but cheap) suit carrier that fits their hand luggage dimensions which are clearly stated on their website, so I've no excuses about it being too large etc...

As for the flight, it's only Belfast, start the approach about 25 mins after take off.

I have just booked a flight to Spain on SleezyJet (just slightly less awful than Ryanair). I had to print out my own boarding pass and will have to carry my own baggage to the plane. They will be expecting us to pilot the friggin' aircraft for them next! :mmm:

With easyJet (not 'Sleezyjet' ), if you don't have a printer you can still checkin (for free) at the airport.

Never had any problem with any of the budget airlines, except once getting held up in security at Stanstead and being at the gate 30 seconds after EasyJet closed it - They wouldn't let me on and I had to buy another ticket for next flight - but that was as much my fault as theirs).

Been a few places with RyanAir and EasyJet and as long as you play by their rules it's fine, lost count of the amount of times I've seen someone try to get a bag on which was too heavy and get told to remove stuff though.

Agree with the positive comments about Jet2 - they were excellent when we wend to the Algarve in September.

Only thing that annoys me is the continual adverts for stuff they sell on the planes but headphones and a book solve that.

Never ceases to amaze me the amount of people that moan about budget airlines. They do exactly what they say on the tin. If your looking for budget prices your not going to get 5 star service.

These people moan and then book again with them too, Tight wads :D

Only because 9 times out of 10 it's the only option. Believe me if there is any other option then I would never fly Ryanair again.

I fly with Easyjet and Ryanair up to 12/14 times a year sometimes and not once have I had any issues, not once.

Just back from Prague with Easyjet and again the service was superb.

I am flying to get to somewhere I am visiting for a holiday, all I want is a seat and to get there safe and reasonably on time. If I want lavished I'll do that on the ground thanks.

So it seems the real question is...

Why would you throw money away on 'full service' airlines for short haul journeys when 'budget airlines' do everything you need!

When i was travelling up and back to Edinburgh from Heathrow every week, I used a 'medium priced' service, which, with planning, was only marginally above Budget prices, but had lounge facilities. seemed to me best of both worlds. For a one-off trip, I'd have no qualms flying budget - though would ensure I played by the rules!

And that, for me, is the crux of it; they claim to be budget but they often aren't anything like as cheap as they claim, especially if you want to take luggage. Yes they publish incredibly low prices but what do you actually end up paying? No doubt they work for some, but not for me.
