Bubba!!!

After I got over the fact that Lee should and could have won it with a half decent putting performance and it came down to just the two of them I was really enjoying the battle.

Unbelievable that Louis followed him into the trees. After his Albatross (I refuse to call it a double eagle) he hit an iron to stop the adrenalin messing up his next shot. When Bubba hooked it I was thinking surely a 3 wood or something off the tee to put him in pole position but he went for it.

Next shot from Louis went like a bullet (great camera angle on that one - its rare to see just how they hit that ball) and I thought it was all over at that stage but then Bubba's shot out of the trees was just pure inventiveness.

Thrilling finish and in some ways with Louis having had a Major already its the right result for golf.

God knows the Yanks need a bit of encouragement at the moment and that win is going to give them real hope for the rest of the year.

Now where can I get a Pink driver??

did louis not hit a 3 wood off the tee after bubba went in the trees? looked like a 3wood to me. this surprised me at the time as he was driving so well all day

I'm glad he won. It's fun watching him play.

And as for luck... they both clattered into the trees off the tee but only one ball came out and gave a clear shot to the green.

that kind of personal attack during a discussion isnt welcome here, just different opinions, we've had our say so thanks for your input and welcome to the forum.

Darth, perhaps in future, you ought to be a little more discerning in smiley usage because the one you used in your first response to me definitely implied sarcasm.

You might also want to brush up on your golf terminology. A duck hook is a miss-hit. Bubba's shot to the green was a high hook although this description barely does it justice.

Bubba Watson won fair and square Louis got very lucky with his 2 miss hit drives and didnt have the skill to put it on the 10th green. Bubba then had the skill to put it on the green from his bad tee shot and thats all she wrote!!! Bubba played a fantastic back nine and is a very worthy winner!!!

Did I mention I won £200 off a £5 bet @ 40/1 ha ha

Also the people who are talking about changing the ball for less distance, would you say that if you could bang 300 YRD plus drives??? DOUBT IT!!!

I wanted Westwood and then oosthuizen to win. I wasn't unhappy with Bubba especially after the shot into the green on the second playoff hole. It had a touch of the Seve's about it.

What spoiled it for me a bit was his Mum running onto the green. WTF.

Before he has chance to shake hands with his oppo, before his Mrs, his Mum runs on???????? (at least I think it was his Mum. Either that or he has a mature taste)

I wouldn't have minded if Oosty had won but on the other hand, he got to the top of the leaderboard via a fluke (albeit a brilliant one) whereas Bubba sank 4 birdies in a row on the back 9 to get into the playoff. That's some playing so for that alone, I think he deserved it.

I agree... Courtesies first... Family second...

Fair play to Louis he waited patiently to shake his opponents hand and acknowledge his win...

I dont like the numpty , ok he does stuff for charity fair play to him for that , but if we checked, im sure most of the top guys do .. i do a good bit for charity , prob dont give as much as him theory but with my limited time & funds pound for pound i do as much or more ,

ok they adopted a baby, which is also great but im sure they did that for a personal reason .. what did ye think of him after his "strop" re the european tour ?

Ok he won it & if you win over 4 days & 74 holes of course you deserve it , if you were playing match play & your partner bombed it way in the trees & you did the same , would you feel he won it or you let him off the hook ?

Winning wont change my opinion of him , but hey its just my opinion

No idea what he has said about the European Tour so cannot comment on that but I think he's fantastic to watch! It may not be conventional but if he can keep up at the top of the game I think it can bring more youngsters to the game. Really enjoy watching him boom it down the fair/into the jungle and then see his banana shots on the the green! The 4 birdies on the trot show he is a class player.

For those who missed the irony of my earlier comment. The American press picked up in a big way DL3's comment that the course got the champion it deserved when Lawrie won at Carnoustie.

My comment was that Augusta is now set up for the guys who hit it miles off line yet still seem to be able to find their ball and hack it back into play. May I suggest to their greens comittee that they plant more bamboo for next time as that seems to have the desired effect.

Good luck to Bubba and well played, it was exciting golf. I suggest that he makes hay while the sun shines as I would not predict a lengthy career.

i can't say i am pleased to see him win. Ok, he hits it a long way, but he comes across like a redneck with asperger's.

Oh, and his real name is gerry lester watson and he is married to a female basketball player who is taller than he is.

what the lightbulb would you bring asperger's into for??????????? My sons have asperger's and they are both doing well in golf and life and then a lightbulb like you puts this stupid comment where my son would read it!!

Even if he does have a short career ,at least he has won a major (westwood, Donald , garcia take note)I was happy to see Bubba win for a few reason. He is a nice guy , gives back to charities and enjoys life to the full. Interacts with the fans and is a joy to watch, as he proves it doesn't matter how you swing, just make you get the club head back to impact square and with good timing. My final reason is that I didn't want to see a major decided on a albatross on the 2nd. IF Louis had made a birdie and Bubba didn't get on a roll on the back nine, we could have ended up with a 6way playoff!! (if's and but's I know before someone rips me about it)throughly enjoying masters from start to finish, but I think if they took 200-300 yards of the overall length , I think we would have an even better tourney.

Just read this after I posted, and I have to say, I completely agree. Proper harsh to bring in aspergers , although I'd just report him and have him binned from the forum
