Actually an amazing number of golf courses have closed over the years, including some quite recently built ones with big pretentions:

http://www.golfsmissinglinks.co.uk/index.php

Courses come and go. Always have. Nothing new and if recent ones aren't run properly of course they'll go under. Massive investment needed initially to build it and if you don't get and retain members or enough green fees you're in trouble from day one

According to their website, Troon Golf claim Centurion as one of theirs:
http://www.troongolf.eu/europe-troon-golf-courses.html

Centurion is not owned by Donald Trump or the Chinese, so that is OK by me. :)

If you take the trouble to actually read some of the information in the link you posted, you would have noticed that Troon do not own or lease clubs.

Centurion have appointed Troon as agents and as I previously stated, they advise on agronomy aspects.
Our other association with Troon is we are part of the Troon Prive programme which gives reciprocal benefits at certain other private clubs.

"We ARE NOT an owner or a lessee - we are agents of the Owner, Membership, or Board of Directors. We are similar to a stand-alone GM only on a larger platform with greater resources"

Calm down Rick. Troon Golf are a golf management company similar in principle to Crown Golf. :)

Sorry Del but I'm afraid you're wrong. I think Rick may have a good idea what's going on in his own club don't you?

I am only quoting what Troon Golf say on their website. They provide more than just agronomy. They do not own Centurion GC any more than Crown Golf owns Batchworth Park.

A member of the actual golf course has told you exactly what Troon Golf do for Centurion GC so why do you persist to flog on ignoring the facts presented to you.

So do they not provide membership services, and reciprocal membership at other Troon Golf clubs?

Delc - Rick has told you what they provide. Please read exactly what he has said.

Simple

Sorry but I don' believe that a golf club would affiliate itself to golf management company just for advice on how to grow grass!

Sorry but I find your insistence to ignore what you've been told by a member of the club you're questioning strange. He's given you an explanation. Why is it so hard to believe?
