The Blackmoor Golf Society Challenge was held today, under a perfectly blue sky with temperatures in the low 80's. We had a shock when we arrived as Paul(Pieman) have phoned the club to say he couldn't play, as he had broken his foot the night before.
Get well soon paul, and hope there are no complications.
The club secretary managed to get us a replacement from the membership, Tony a 4 handicapper. He seemed to gel rather well with Steve (Swinger), and between them got a better ball score of 43 points (3/4 handicap) It was to prove the joint best score of the day, and bearing in mind they only received two and three shots, was brilliant scoring. Sorry to leave you to play with three complete strangers, but hope you at least enjoyed Tony's company Steve.
As Smiffy could not play, I stepped into his hard to fill boots, and played with Anthony (TXL). We didn't play badly, and just when we looked like we were going to post a good score, we wilted in the sun over the last five holes and returned 36 points. As always I really enjoyed your company Anthony.
Our combined total of 79 points was good (?) enough for fourth place, just out of the prizes. Unfortunately this means I will now be taking stick from Steve on the forum and from Tony at the Club.
In my defence I was told by the secretary not to win, as we had brought in a ringer. Fourth was the perfect finish.
Thanks to Steve for driving up from Salisbury to play, and to Anthony for putting up with me. Hope you both got home safely.
Paul and Smiffy you were both missed, and I would say I did seem to take a lot of unnecessay stick which would normally have been directed at Smiffy
