So before this came in (last year?) a particular HI might yield a CH of say 14 resulting in a PH of 13 and we learnt to hole out for a double for 0 Stableford points on Index 14 for handicap purposes.

Does machine precision change that behaviour? That exact same Index could yield a PH of 13 OR 14, correct?

So now, do we only need to remember to hole out for a double when our PH is less than CH, and not bother when it’s the same?

Machine precision (MP) has been part of WHS from its inception in England. We obviously use MP for all competitions, but we also display a MP chart to encourage ‘casual’ golf players to use MP, thereby eliminating any arguments on the tee about PH.

Players should play with reference to their Course Handicap as far as net double bogeys for handicapping is concerned. Nothing changed in this regard.

Holing out when you would score zero points is about the 95% allowance in singles stroke play rather than anything to do with your calculated H.I.
