The Blackmoor Golf Society Challenge was held today, under a perfectly blue sky with temperatures in the low 80's. We had a shock when we arrived as Paul(Pieman) have phoned the club to say he couldn't play, as he had broken his foot the night before. :( :( Get well soon paul, and hope there are no complications.

The club secretary managed to get us a replacement from the membership, Tony a 4 handicapper. He seemed to gel rather well with Steve (Swinger), and between them got a better ball score of 43 points (3/4 handicap) It was to prove the joint best score of the day, and bearing in mind they only received two and three shots, was brilliant scoring. Sorry to leave you to play with three complete strangers, but hope you at least enjoyed Tony's company Steve.

As Smiffy could not play, I stepped into his hard to fill boots, and played with Anthony (TXL). We didn't play badly, and just when we looked like we were going to post a good score, we wilted in the sun over the last five holes and returned 36 points. As always I really enjoyed your company Anthony.

Our combined total of 79 points was good (?) enough for fourth place, just out of the prizes. Unfortunately this means I will now be taking stick from Steve on the forum and from Tony at the Club. :D In my defence I was told by the secretary not to win, as we had brought in a ringer. Fourth was the perfect finish. ;)

Thanks to Steve for driving up from Salisbury to play, and to Anthony for putting up with me. Hope you both got home safely.

Paul and Smiffy you were both missed, and I would say I did seem to take a lot of unnecessay stick which would normally have been directed at Smiffy :D :D

Many thanks for sorting the day for us Richard. Great day for golf, great company - think we got the better Mariner's Golf Society players in out group :D

As always, the course at Blackmoor was in great shape. Greens were no quite as quick as when we played there at the forum meet but they were still really good.

It was a shame I did not find my game as Steve (Swinger) and Tony certainly did - at least Richard did not get in trouble with the club management :)

Great fun today guys. Really enjoyed it.

As you have got in early with an early confession I will save any pics/results stick for another time. I'm sure it will some in handy!!
All I will say is that we have very different opinions of 'going well'!!

Tony was good company today and we had good fun out there.
Not sure either of us will be looking to join said society though!!

Course was very good again and I really do like getting out there. Lovely part of the world.

Hope your foot gets better soon Pieman, was looking forward to playing with you today but I'm guessing this Aerobics thing takes awhile to get used to!

Steve, your idea of good golf and mine will never ever be the same.

Have you got a photo of Tony's opening tee shot, as that might be worth a lot of gold to me ? If not I will start looking for a new club. :( :(

Glad to see that you had a good day lads. Really sorry that I couldn't be there but still feeling a bit grotty to be honest. Can't seem to shake the effects of this bloody cold off. No energy whatsover.
Had I played, I would have been dragging myself around the back 9. And dragging you down with me
:( :( :( :( :(

No picture Rich, sorry. I will back you up on that one though!!

Do either you or Anthony have a copy of the results?? I seem to have lost mine!

Shame about the picture. I may have a copy of the results :)

Anthony I told you to burn all copies ! Steve unlucky mate, to play that well but have no evidence to prove it.

Homer I am looking into having a mini meet about this time next year. An end of season meet, when the greens are quaranteed to be slightly slower, and the pins in the middle of every green !! Pleased to hear you want to play again.
