Bit unfair on the 6h/capper?

Well done to the guys that scored so well, irrespective of their handicaps. We all know before we pay our entry fee what may happen, its the nature of handicap golf... no sense in being bitter about it.

Low handicappers have been known to win the odd comp...;)

A few weeks ago we had a 5 HC shoot -4 under gross, and he lost on countback to a 22 HC. they both scored 47 points

I know which one played the better golf - irrespective of what their bit of paper says

Whatever anyone says, the 5-handicapper's handicap has been earned and is OK, but the 22-handicapper's handicap must be under suspicion.

Exactly! I meant your missing smilie.... if you were joking, that is. If you were serious, I don't follow you!

The point I was trying to make was that a player doesn't get to 5 without his playing record being closely monitored (by the County Union as Cat 1). Unless the 22 handicap has a handicap record over a significant number of qualifiers, alarm bells would sound. I have had more than one occasion where a new member has failed to disclose previous playing/handicap experience prior to initial handicap allocation.. If the 22 handicap had little recorded activity in qualifiers, I would be suspicious and want to know more. If that was not the case, it would be "well played".

Righto... now I follow you. :)
