played a comp this week, matchplay. After 16 despite giving away 2 shots i seemed in control despite a playing partner who could do no wrong. He hit various trees on no less than 7 occassions only to bounce back nicley into play on each occassion. 2 crap shots on the 17th and 18th cost me did he beat me or did i lose? how do you feel when you lose ? :D

I know it might sound silly, but it really does depend on how I've played.
If I've given my all, and played well, I don't mind losing if the guy played better golf.
If I make a good par on a hole and the guy I'm playing makes a birdie to win it, I find that a lot easier to accept than if we've both played the hole like a complete knob and I've won it with a double bogie or he's picked up. At the end of the day, you are playing yourself and judging yourself on your own performance.
Well, that's my take on it anyway.

I most certainly lost my match on Wednesday, it was a scratch comp and I was 3 up with 4 to play, and finished with 4 5's on a par 3,4,3,4, all he had to do was keep the ball in play. On Thur I was 3 up with 4 to play again and this guy had a shot on the next 2 holes but fortunately he had a hamlet moment out the bunker and shook my hand

Yup, you lost! He didn't beat you but he was handed it. Had a simular thing happen in a inter club match against a 6 capper, got back from 6 down to 3 up with 3 to play, took my eye off the ball waiting for a halved hole to sign the match off and he won all 3. I threw it away in the same style you just did. A lesson learned :(

That's the strangest match I've ever heard of if I've read it right.

You lost the first 6, then won 9 in a row and lost the last 3?

Blimey
I bet that took some getting over!
