Bar Levy good or bad?

My track doesn't even have a bar

We're only a small club so not really a point in having one. I know another course locally has one, but causes no end do problems with the members (users vs non users)

I've played it twice in the last month, the rearranged Open, when it still rained, and my Captains Away Day. My Captains day was off the yellows but still a very good test but off the whites its not the extra distance, which is nominal, its the positions of the white tee blocks set back and at different angles well into the tree's.

Love the place and only 30 minutes from me.

Wouldn't want to pay your speeding tickets!!

Cov to Hednesford in 30 mins????????????

Easily, I live just off the A45 on the outskirts of the city, F.O.A is 5 minutes away, using the toll to Beau is a doddle for me, M42 is 3-4 minutes away onto the the toll, off at T6 and straight in, 30 minutes comfy.

I don't speed

You're OK if you use the toll. It appears that there is no speed limit on that particular road; even old dears do 90 there.

Bad idea for me.

Instead of "forcing" members to use the clubhouse/bar why not make it desirable for them to do so? Provide good facilities, good service, good food and people will want to spend time and money there.

completely agree with this

Over the last year I've experienced poor food, dodgy pints and poor service...I certainly wouldn't want to pay up front for those things.

Sadly - same here although I don't drink pints but HID has stopped having the guest beer as it's often dodgy/off. The food is very inconsistent as is the service. We played 4 times in The Lakes last week and every club served better food and with excellent service and a smile - our club needs to improve imo.

They also had a deal where if you put £100 on your card you got a voucher for a free green fee at the club. Seemed a good deal all round as they got good cash flow and we could bring a friend for free. They stopped it last month so we now just top up as required...

I am very much in favour of members of a proper club supporting it socially at least to some degree - there are 19 holes in golf! Caveat that a club must provide decent food and drink - and if it doesn't members should force the issue by leaving or complaining. Ours used to be £250 and I would spend many times that amount - they dropped it to £50 as a ruse when VAT went up to disguise the cost rise!! I was happy to continue paying it. No way clubs can survive on fees - they need to make it work socially to be successful - a 2 way deal - deliver good food, drink and service and ensure that members support it

We have a card that we can put money on, but there is no amount that we have to put on it at the start of the year. Using the card gives us 10% discount. I would not mind if there was a levy as I buy a sandwich after every game and buy drinks every third or fourth round ( one of us in the group buys each time we play)

I don't agree though with the idea of forcing members to pay for something they don't want.
