Average Putts Per Round?

After completing a round of golf today and with only 30 putts I wondered what's your putting average per round and your estimated handicap? I don't have an official handicap myself, but I'm guessing I would be up around 28 having only taken up the game last year.

Well for a 28 handicapper I'd say 30 putts is better than average as that would be 6 single putts even without a 3 putt

Got a new putter and back to 35 this week, goal is 30 like you. What putter do you have?

i play off 27 and dream of 30 putts lol. last weekend i had 40putts and putted about average id say also done alot higher on a bad day

Average from mid July last year to now, 29.5.

30 is superb for a 28 handicap. Chipping must have been sharp on the day I am guessing? Think I have only managed that low once and I consider myself a good putter. I currently average 36 (35.88 to be precise), i'd like to get that down to 32-33 this year

According to SS2 it is 33.2 for this year. Testament to not enough birdies and one putt greens courtesy of a good short game.

That's why I use 'Putts minus GIRs'. Still not perfect but adequate and simple. Varies slightly with each course, but 'happy' if below 24. Unhappy if above 27. Best is 20.

To give an idea of of my handicap I shot a 97 for the round, which is a par 71. No 3 putts BTW.

I have never counted mine personally but would love to have 30, i'd be more high 30's. Much of the time I bottle my chips and am just happy to get on the dance floor, never mind close to the hole in the grass

For the 42 rounds this year so far I'm averaging 30.65.
Best is 25, worst is 35.

AS has been said, on it's own it means nothing. You have to look at the number of GIR to make sense of it.
Lets face it, hit every green in regulation and I'd be ecstatic with 36 putts - because I'd have shot par.

I'm probably around the 32 mark (over a long period) but if I hit less greens, I'd hope to see that nearer 30.

No two games are ever the same, sometimes I need to scramble like mad (1 putts) and other games, I'm on more greens than normal but not really in birdie territory.

under 30 is rare and over 36 even rarer.

Can you imagine hitting the lot and not making even 1 birdie? I'd give up. Like I'd give up if I ever went out and had 18 straight bogeys. There are some scenarios too grim to consider.

I'm not normally a "birdie-machine" so quite often shoot low-mid 70's with no birdies - just "boring" pars.....

Give me 36 putts and a gross par score anyday...
